Dicembre 1897, Parigi. TRAMA

TRAMA
Mentre Knuck è stato in prigione, il figlio surrogato Mark, soprannominato Paddo, si è preso cura del suo club per motociclisti. TRAMA

Edmond Rostand è un drammaturgo dal talento geniale. Sfortunatamente, tutto ciò che ha scritto fino ad ora è stato un flop. Si paralizza alla vista di una pagina bianca e la sua ispirazione si è ormai prosciugata. Ma, grazie alla sua ammiratrice Sarah Bernhardt, incontra il più grande attore del momento, Constant Coquelin, che insiste nel voler recitare nella sua prossima commedia… e vuole presentarla in anteprima dopo tre settimane! TRAMA

All'inizio degli anni '80, la Sicilia è capitale mondiale del traffico di droga, divisa tra famiglie di Cosa Nostra palermitane e corleonesi (di cui è leader Totò Riina), che lottano fra loro pur mantenendo una facciata di amicizia. Durante una festa a casa di Stefano Bontate tra boss di entrambi gli schieramenti, Tommaso Buscetta, un boss affiliato alla mala di Palermo, avverte il pericolo di una faida imminente e decide di emigrare in Brasile per seguire i suoi affari al sicuro. Le tensioni non tardano a manifestarsi e si scatena una serie di omicidi a boss mafiosi e familiari; i due figli di Buscetta e suo fratello, rimasti in Sicilia, vengono fatti sparire, e lui stesso si sente braccato in America Latina. Inoltre, la polizia brasiliana lo identifica e lo cattura, sottoponendolo a numerose torture fisiche e psicologiche, successivamente viene chiesta l'estradizione in Italia che Buscetta in un primo momento evita ingerendo della stricnina.

Ormai rimasto senza potere né denaro, Buscetta viene salvato e rimpatriato in Italia, finendo quindi nel mirino dei rivali corleonesi. Il giudice Giovanni Falcone gli offre un'alternativa: collaborare con la giustizia, che per il codice d'onore mafioso equivale a un tradimento punibile con la morte. In una serie di interrogatori, Buscetta rivela al giudice nomi, organizzazione e rituali di Cosa Nostra, diventando così il primo collaboratore di giustizia della storia, benché abbia sempre rifiutato di definirsi un pentito; anche il suo vecchio compagno Totuccio Contorno inizierà a collaborare con la giustizia.

Grazie alle deposizioni di Buscetta e Contorno la polizia riesce a eseguire centinaia di blitz ed arresti che destabilizzano Cosa Nostra: nel 1986 ha inizio il maxiprocesso nell'aula-bunker di Palermo, del quale Buscetta è testimone chiave. Il processo va avanti tra il totale diniego degli imputati e la loro ipocrita pretesa di innocenza; molti chiedono un confronto diretto con Buscetta, ma tutti desistono dopo quello con Giuseppe Calò, suo amico di infanzia, che nega di conoscerlo. I mafiosi vengono condannati e giurano vendetta su Buscetta, che viene posto sotto protezione negli Stati Uniti d'America, dove tuttavia continua a sentirsi braccato e spesso è costretto a cambiare città. In Italia, intanto, molti suoi parenti incensurati vengono uccisi per ritorsione: una sua sorella, rimasta vedova, lo rinnegherà come fratello.

Nel maggio del 1992 il giudice Falcone viene assassinato in un brutale attentato; Buscetta decide di tornare in Italia -in suo onore- come testimone chiave del processo del secolo. Qui, tuttavia, viene messo in difficoltà dall'avvocato di Giulio Andreotti, che mette in luce le sue contraddizioni e la sua morale dubbia. Intanto viene arrestato Totò Riina, e nel corso del processo a suo carico, Buscetta apprende che i suoi figli sono stati uccisi mediante strangolamento dai vecchi amici Giuseppe Calò e Salvatore Cancemi, reo confesso. Buscetta si sente in colpa per aver abbandonato i suoi figli anziché portarli con sé in Brasile.

Buscetta vive i suoi ultimi anni sotto copertura negli Stati Uniti, dove muore nel 2000, circondato dall'affetto dei figli avuti dalla sua ultima moglie. In flashback rivive la storia di un attentato che doveva compiere nei confronti di un uomo, il quale, messo alle strette, è riuscito a farsi sempre scudo di suo figlio, fino a quando, nel giorno del matrimonio di quest'ultimo, viene assassinato a sangue freddo dopo che il figlio non era più nella sua stessa dimora.

Depeche Mode is an English electronic band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group's original line-up consisted of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andy Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter 1980-81). Depeche Mode released their debut record in 1981, Speak & Spell, bringing the band onto the English new wave scene. Clarke left the band after the release of the album, leaving the band as a trio to record A Broken Frame, released the following year. Alan Wilder (keyboards, drums, occasional songwriter) officially joined the band afterward, replacing Clarke, while Gore took over lead songwriting duties, establishing a line up that would continue for the next thirteen years.

The band's last albums of the 1980s; Black Celebration and Music for the Masses established them as a dominant force on the mainstream electronic music scene. A highlight of this era was the band's concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl where they drew a crowd in excess of 60,000 people. In the new decade, Depeche Mode released Violator, catapulting them to massive mainstream success. The subsequent album, Songs of Faith and Devotion and the supporting Devotional Tour exacerbated tensions within the band to the point where Alan Wilder quit in 1995, leading to intense media and fan speculation that the band would split. Now a trio once again, the band released Ultra in 1997, recorded at the height of Gahan's near-fatal drug abuse, Gore's alcoholism and Fletcher's depression. The release of Exciter confirmed Depeche Mode's willingness to remain together, the subsequent, and very successful, Exciter Tour being their first tour in support of an original album in eight years since the Devotional Tour although the band had toured in 1998 to support The Singles 86>98 compilation album.

Depeche Mode have had 50 songs in the UK Singles Chart and thirteen top 10 albums in the UK charts, two of which debuted at No. 1. According to EMI, Depeche Mode have sold over 100 million albums and singles worldwide, making them the most commercially successful electronic band in music history. Q magazine calls Depeche Mode "The most popular electronic band the world has ever known" and included the band in the list of the "50 Bands That Changed the World!".

In 1990s Boston, an assistant district attorney and a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran work together to take on a case that grows to involve, and ultimately subvert, the entire criminal justice system of Boston.

City on a Hill è un crime drama di Showtime scritto da Chuck MacLean e prodotto da Ben Affleck e Matt Damon. La serie è ambientata a Boston nella prima metà degli anni '90, periodo in cui nella capitale del Massachusetts sono stati registrati molti casi di crimini violenti appoggiati dalle forze dell'ordine, finché non è avvenuto quello che è passato alla storia come Il Miracolo di Boston. Secondo il racconto romanzato di MacLean, uno dei maggiori responsabili della distruzione di questo scenario di corruzione e razzismo è Decourcy Ward (Aldis Hodge, Leverage), un giovane procuratore distrettuale afroamericano che al suo arrivo da Brooklyn forma un'improbabile alleanza con Jackie Rhodes (Kevin Bacon, The Following), un ex agente dell'FBI valente ma corrotto, per assicurare alla giustizia una famiglia di ladri di macchine. Il caso, apparentemente semplice da risolvere, porta alla luce le numerose falle nel locale sistema giudiziario, innescando una lotta alla delinquenza senza precedenti. Cyrano, Mon Amour, il film diretto da Alexis Michalik, segue la storia di Edmond Rostand (Thomas Solivérès), un drammaturgo dal talento geniale. Sfortunatamente, tutto ciò che ha scritto fino ad ora è stato un flop. Si paralizza alla vista di una pagina bianca e la sua ispirazione si è ormai prosciugata. Ma grazie alla sua ammiratrice Sarah Bernhardt (Clémentine Célarié), incontra il più grande attore del momento, Constant Coquelin (Olivier Gourmet), che insiste nel voler recitare nella sua prossima commedia... e vuole presentarla in anteprima dopo tre settimane!
C'è però un piccolo problema: Edmond non l'ha ancora scritta e non ha idea di che storia raccontare... Tutto ciò che conosce è il suo titolo: Cyrano de Bergerac.

December 1897, Paris. Edmond Rostand is not yet thirty but already two children and a lot of anxieties. He has not written anything for two years. In desperation, he offers the great Constant Coquelin a new play, a heroic comedy, in verse, for the holidays. Only concern: it is not written yet. Ignoring the whims of actresses, the demands of his Corsican producers, the jealousy of his wife, the stories of his best friend's heart and the lack of enthusiasm of all those around him, Edmond starts writing this piece which nobody believes. For now, he has only the title: "Cyrano de Bergerac".

Experimental German group, formed in West Berlin in 1980. The band are notable for predominately using custom built instruments constructed out of scrap metal and power tools.

Their name in English literally means "Collapsing New Buildings," where "New Buildings" describes a type of architecture common in post-WWII Germany (large concrete box-style buildings) and "Collapsing" is an adjective in this context, not a verb.
