Quiet family man and hard-working snowplow driver Nels is the lifeblood of a glitzy resort town in the Rocky Mountains because he is the one who keeps the winter roads clear. Nels Coxman è un uomo tranquillo, abituato a guidare uno spazzaneve "dritto per dritto" attraverso i tunnel ghiacchiati del Colorado. Ma la sua vita orientata in una direzione viene bruscamente deragliata dalla morte del figlio Kyle, liquidata dalle autorità come un'overdose di eroina e invece causata da una gang di spacciatori di droga. A superlative introduction to the world of Jamaican music, Tougher Than Tough is a treasure trove of information, filled with unforgettable music. Across four discs and 95 songs, this set spans the entire history of the island's vibrant music scene, hitting all the major stylistic bases along the way, and rounding up many of Jamaica's greatest artists. It's evident that a great amount of thoughtful time and effort went into this package and, although collectors will howl at the many omissions and some of the selections, this set wasn't intended for them, but for a general audience interested in beginning to explore the music more deeply.
Disc one begins in 1958 with the Folkes Brothers' "Oh Carolina," arguably the first ever proto-ska release, cut during producer Prince Buster's first ever recording session. It continues through the rise of pure ska and through the shift to rocksteady. Disc two concentrates on the reggae years and the rise of the DJs, while the third is given over entirely to roots. The final disc brings things bang up to date, following the trajectory of the dancehalls. The set comes full circle with the final track, Shaggy's smash hit cover of "Oh Carolina." From rude reggae to ragga, dulcet vocal groups to dueling DJs, The Story of Jamaican Music is indeed just that. Of course, there's a wealth of equally masterful music that didn't make the cut, and the booklet discusses a multitude of songs not included. But this is history 101; hopefully, students will continue their studies on their own.

Il Paese dei Campanelli è un'operetta in tre atti scritta da Carlo Lombardo con la musica di Lombardo e Virgilio Ranzato. Fu composta nel 1923 ed andò in scena con successo il 23 novembre di quello stesso anno al Teatro Lirico di Milano diretta dal compositore con Lina Di Sambon, Dina Evarist, Piero Zacchetti, Riccardo Massucci e Carlo Rizzo. Al Teatro La Fenice di Venezia il 16 febbraio 1924 la Primaria Compagnia d'operette Carlo Lombardo mette in scena con successo la prima rappresentazione diretta da Domenico Lombardo con Lina Di Sambon e nel 1927 la Compagnia dei Grandi Spettacoli d'Arte Operettistica con Ines Lidelba, Nella De Campi e Nuto Navarrini. La Compagnia di Gennaro Gaudiosi porta il titolo al Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari il 30 ottobre 1924 ed a Taranto il 5 novembre dello stesso anno al Politeana Alhambra con la soubrette Cettina Bianchi. Al Teatro Reinach di Parma va in scena il 22 aprile 1925 per la Compagnia di operette e opere comiche della casa musicale ISAPLIO. Nel 1940 avvenne la prima rappresentazione nel Teatro Vittorio Emanuele I di Torino. Fa parte del repertorio operettistico italiano e viene spesso rappresentata anche all'interno dei cartelloni dei principali teatri a fianco delle opere liriche maggiori.

Parigi vive ore di terrore a causa di un gruppo di terroristi trinceratisi nella torre Eiffel con una bomba all'idrogeno capace di distruggere l'intera città. Lois Lane si intrufola clandestinamente sotto un ascensore, con l'intento di scrivere uno scoop capace di garantirle il Pulitzer.

Superman raggiunge il posto quando l'ascensore viene fatto precipitare nel vuoto dalla polizia, causando inavvertitamente l'innesco del terribile ordigno. Salvata la giornalista, l'ultimo figlio di Krypton lascia l'atmosfera del pianeta Terra e scaglia nello spazio profondo l'ascensore. L'esplosione che ne segue è spaventosamente forte. L'onda d'urto che si propaga raggiunge l'antica e ormai dimenticata zona fantasma che, proprio in quel momento, sta transitando presso la Terra. La fessura cristallina vagante per lo spazio da un tempo infinito custodisce il generale Zod, Ursa e Non, i tre famosi rivoluzionari kryptoniani che Jor-El aveva condannato di fronte al Consiglio di Governo poco prima che Krypton esplodesse. Appena l'onda d'urto la raggiunge, essa esplode tragicamente, liberando i tre pericolosi malfattori proprio in prossimità dell'orbita del pianeta Terra.

Frattanto, Lex Luthor sta scontando una condanna all'ergastolo, ma sta per progettare una fuga, a cui seguirà una vendetta contro Superman, colpevole di avergli impedito un massacro in California da cui avrebbe tratto il massimo profitto finanziario. Nella manica ha un asso: in cella, infatti, custodisce un miracoloso rilevatore di onde Alpha, capaci di intercettare gli spostamenti di Superman. Prima di andare in carcere, Luthor aveva scoperto che il kryptoniano si dirigeva costantemente a nord. Trae quindi la conclusione che l'alieno abbia un segreto che potrebbe renderlo vulnerabile.

Zod, Ursa e Non raggiungono la luna, dove sviluppano rapidamente i superpoteri ottenuti dal beneficio dei raggi del sole giallo terrestre, e massacrano barbaramente una squadra di astronauti russi e statunitensi. Equivocando con le comunicazioni spaziali, essi chiamano il pianeta Houston, e scoprono che esso è popolato da una civiltà rimasta indietro secoli e secoli, quindi facilmente soggiogabile. Zod ordina ai due suoi compagni mutanti pertanto di raggiungerlo, poiché finalmente otterranno lì quanto su Krypton non ottennero mai: un regno tutto per loro.

Luthor, con l'intercettatore Alpha, raggiunge il Polo Nord e penetra nella Fortezza della solitudine, dove accede alla conoscenza kryptoniana e curiosa nelle registrazioni ataviche contenute nei cristalli. Scopre così che Superman...

TRAMA

Gwendolyn Shepard (Maria Ehrich) è una sedicenne come tante altre ma la sua famiglia nasconde un segreto che si tramanda di generazione in generazione: grazie a un particolare gene, alcuni prescelti hanno la possibilità di viaggiare nel tempo. Poiché tutti ritengono che il gene sia in Charlotte (Laura Berlin), la cugina di Gwendolyn, le priorità della famiglia sembrano ruotare intorno a lei. Un giorno, però, mentre si trova a Londra, Gwendolyn realizza di essere lei la predestinata e non la cugina. Per nulla eccitata all'idea, Gwendolyn dovrà affrontare un pericoloso salto nel passato in compagnia dell'arrogante amico Gideon de Villieres (Jannis Niewöhner) per risolvere i misteri legati alla storia della sua famiglia e al rubino rosso.
