Arena's Smoke and Mirrors is a terrific presentation from the packaging to the performance, the fun doubled and tripled with all the extra little goodies tucked inside this wonderful package. You'll need to spend a lot of time with this one, from the September 22, 2005 concert at Poland's Wyspiaski Theatre to fan footage taped October 16, 2005 in Holland. There's a biography of the band itself you can read, as well as separate bios for the players, so those new to Arena can catch up on drummer Mick Pointer, bassist Ian Salmon and their comrades. But it's the concert itself that is the centerpiece and the camera work and edits are absolutely flawless on most of the songs. The depth of the production is such that it is as close to 3-D as you can get on a flat screen with the camera movement and additional lenses following the musicians on the instrumental passages, weaving the imagery in a solid collaboration of sound and film. That said, there are sometimes too many quick cuts to vocalist Rob Sowden on "A Crack in the Ice" when a lingering shot would be easier on the nervous system. A minor distraction on an otherwise impressive filming. The band plays as smooth and sleek as a Mercedes on the 14-minute epic "Solomon," the use of the crane giving some exquisite video sweeps. The acoustic "Friday's Dream" is lovely and a nice contrast to the anthem feel of "Crying for Help VII." A four-page booklet is included along with Clive Nolan and Mick Pointer interview footage and more bells and whistles that are imbedded in a classy sandstone-style graphic. Very excellent for fans of the group, and a pleasant surprise for those who have never encountered Arena.

I due assicurano che il dimagrimento è garantito (e infatti la dieta si basa sul digiuno totale, a parte un intruglio verdastro di aspetto più che dubbio). Richiamati dal battage pubblicitario affluiscono alla casa di cura una quindicina di ciccioni di ambo i sessi, ivi compreso un riottoso ragazzetto, grasso ma furbo e bravissimo nei furtarelli a scopo di sopravvivenza.

Graduates in medicine with the minimum of grades, two friends (one reduced to being a masseur-callista, the other the traveler in sanitary articles) set up a nursing home for the obese, rebuilding a magnificent country house surrounded by woods. The two assure that weight loss is guaranteed (and in fact the diet is based on total fasting, apart from a more than doubtful greenish concoction). Recalled by the advertising hype, fifteen fat men of both sexes flock to the nursing home, including a rebellious little boy, fat but clever and very good at stealing for survival.

Sergio Benvenuti, ragazzo romano piuttosto ingenuo ed impacciato nei modi, riesce a trovare lavoro come venditore porta a porta in una casa editrice di una collana musicale. Forse, è l'occasione giusta per poter "ingranare" e, quindi, sposare Rossella con la quale è fidanzato da quattro anni. Almeno questa è la sua giustificazione davanti al cruento padre di lei, in allarme per l'adorata figlia. Ma il lavoro non va, infatti è ultimo nella classifica delle vendite. Amareggiato, telefona alla sua collega capolista Nadia Vandelli,che non ha mai visto, una ragazza spigliata con il pallino della musica leggera - specie quella di Lucio Dalla - proponendogli di unire il loro lavoro per un giorno in modo che lui possa fare un po' di tirocinio. L'indomani, però, si trova da solo davanti all'abitazione del cliente, l'architetto Manuel Fantoni.

Sergio Benvenuti, a Roman boy rather ingenuous and awkward in his ways, manages to find work as a door-to-door salesman in a publisher of a musical necklace. Perhaps, it is the right occasion to be able to "gear up" and, therefore, marry Rossella with whom he has been engaged for four years. At least this is her justification before her bloody father, alarmed by his beloved daughter. But the work does not go, in fact it is the last in the sales ranking. Embittered, he calls his colleague leaders Nadia Vandelli, whom he has never seen, a self-confident girl with a passion for light music - especially Lucio Dalla's - proposing to combine their work for a day so that he can do a little of training. The next day, however, he finds himself alone in front of the client's home, architect Manuel Fantoni.

In mezzo ad un bosco sulle colline dell'Italia Centrale, una quindicina di persone di ambo i sessi seguono un corso di addestramento alla sopravvivenza. Tra gli altri fanno coppia Mario, un tranviere romano separatosi dalla moglie e Silvio, un giovane banchiere milanese. Di estrazione e caratteri diversi, i due però finiscono con il borbottare e con l'intendersi insieme: la vita è dura e scalare rocce con scarso companatico pure e, in più, per sopravvivere bisogna apprendere un sacco di cose difficili, tra cui accendere il fuoco senza fiammiferi e pescare nei torrenti a colpi di bastone.

In the middle of a forest on the hills of Central Italy, about fifteen people of both sexes follow a survival training course. Among others, Mario, a Roman tram driver who separated from his wife and Silvio, a young Milanese banker, pair up. Of extraction and different characters, however, the two end up mumbling and understanding each other: life is hard and climbing rocks with little mash and even, to survive you have to learn a lot of difficult things, including turning on the fire without matches and fish in streams with a stick.

On the eve of parades in Rome, the centuria of Vinicius is to count a few and shabby praetorians. Tizio and Caio, two heavily recruited peasants, disguise themselves as women and end up in a slave market where they are taken for a few sesterces by Tigellinus who works for Poppea. Ugly and ungraceful the alleged Tizia and Caia are assumed with pleasure by the Divine who in this way intends to punish the ancillary escapades of Nero.

Il 29 aprile 1945, partigiani e popolo di Milano si danno appuntamento in piazzale Loreto per celebrare la morte del duce. Appeso per i piedi, il cadavere di Mussolini appare un simbolo della Resistenza vittoriosa. Ma quel corpo straziato, vera e propria icona dell'intero regime, incarna anche l'orrore della guerra civile: trafugato dai neofascisti nel 1946, viene nascosto dalla Dc per undici anni, fino ad arrivare, solo nel 1957 alla tumulazione di Predappio.

This beautiful production by renowned opera director Michael Hampe was recorded at the exquisite Rococo Theatre in Schwetzingen Palace in May 1990. La scala di seta is one of the five one-act operas - farsa giocosa - in which the young Rossini first demonstrated his operatic genius
This sparkling production continues the Rossini one-act opera series emerging from the Schwetzingen Festival. The staging is perfectly suited to the screen and the cast of principals, led by David Griffith and Luciana Serra provide musical excellence together with the flexible Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. Simone Young, who has since become one of the foremost opera conductors of the younger generation, appears on harpsichord and fortepiano. She was chief conductor of the Sydney Opera and has recently been appointed as the new musical director of the Hamburg Opera. Here she can be seen at the start of her career establishing a speciality for which she is now famous: she frequently conducts early operas from the harpsichord.

Good Omens è una miniserie basata sul romanzo di Terry Pratchett e Neil Gaiman Buona Apocalisse a tutti! (in inglese Good Omens), pubblicato nel 1990. Diretta da Douglas Mackinnon e scritta dallo stesso Gaiman per BBC e Prime Video, la serie è ambientata nel 2018 e segue le vicende del demone Crowley (David Tennant) e dell'angelo Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), che vivono sulla Terra sin dall'alba dei tempi in veste di rappresentanti dell'Inferno e del Paradiso. Felici della propria vita tra gli umani, i due decidono di allearsi per evitare la venuta dell'Anticristo e con essa l'Apocalisse. Fortunatamente, a seguito di uno spiacevole equivoco, il figlio di Satana, Adam (Sam Taylor Buck), cresce ignaro di tutto in un piccolo villaggio immerso nella campagna inglese, in compagnia di una splendida famiglia. Riuscirà la strana coppia a evitare la fine del mondo nell'arco di una settimana? Nel cast, a dir poco stellare, troviamo anche Jon Hamm (Mad Men) nelle vesti dell'Arcangelo Gabriele; Sian Brooke (Sherlock) e Daniel Mays (Lines of Duty) in quelli dei genitori del giovane Anticristo; Adria Arjona (True Detective), che interpreta Anathema Device, discendente dell'antica strega Agnes Nutter (Josie Lawrence), mentre Derek Jacobi è il Metatron e Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter) la sensitiva Madame Tracy, che aiuta Crowley e Aziraphale nel loro disperato tentativo di cambiare il destino dell'umanità.
