Una giovane ragazza, Amy Bellafonte interpretata da Saniyya Sidney (Fences), viene scelta come cavia per il progetto Noah, e l'agente federale Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar - Pitch) è incaricato di consegnarla al Progetto. Il rapporto tra i due, però, evolverà fino al punto che Wolgast diventerà come un padre per Amy, e la difenderà ad ogni costo.

Le vicende porteranno Brad ed Amy a confrontarsi con gli scienziati assegnati al Progetto Noah: il maggiore Nichole Sykes, che è interpretata da Caroline Chikezie (Le Cronache di Shannara) ed il Dottore Jonas Lear, ovvero l'Henry Ian Cusick di Lost. Con loro anche Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire) nei panni di Clark Richards, il soldato che prima dell'inizio dell'apocalisse addestrò Brad Wolgast. La narrazione porterà i protagonisti verso lo scontro con nuove razze nate dal Progetto Noah e intrappolate al suo interno, come l'ex scienziato Tim Fanning (Jamie McShane - Sons of Anarchy), e i carcerati rinchiusi nel braccio della morte Shauna Babcock (Brianne Howey - The Exorcist) e Anthony Carter (McKinley Belcher III - Ozark). Brad sarà costretto a cercare degli alleati e troverà così l'aiuto della sua ex moglie, la Dottoressa Lila Kyle, interpretata da Emmanuelle Chriqui (Murder in The First). Mentre gli scienziati sono al lavoro su una cura che possa portare alla salvezza dell'umanità, le nuove creature iniziano a provare i loro poteri, cercando la fuga che porterebbe verso un'apocalisse inimmaginabile.

La quinta stagione riprende con Asher e Michaela che hanno deciso di interrompere la loro relazione. Tra i due, però, Asher è ancora innamorato della ex partner.

Michaela, invece, ha deciso di denunciare Simon, che è stato rimandato in Pakistan, un luogo dove la sua sessualità gli renderà la vita difficile.

Questa scelta fa sì che Michaela debba trovare un modo per farsi perdonare dal gruppo, che non approva la sua scelta e la condanna.

La quinta stagione getta nuova luce anche sul futuro di Laurel: Tegan ha fatto sì che il padre della ragazza fosse catturato, e adesso ci saranno nuovi risvolti per lei e la madre.

Un altro mistero da risolvere è quello legato a Gabriel Maddox: la telefonata di Frank che rivela la posizione del figlio di Maddox ad un misterioso destinatario avrà delle conseguenze.

La storyline di Maddox coinvolgerà anche Emmett Crawford, socio dello studio legale Caplan & Gold interpretato da Timothy Hutton, che offre un lavoro ad Annalise.

E proprio Annalise dovrà cercare un equilibrio e cercare di risollevare, ancora, la sua reputazione, già in bilico dopo l'omicidio del marito.

Four individuals arrive in Rome to carry out an attack on the embassy of an elusive country. Bursts, weapons in hand, in the embassy building, which, without their knowledge, has changed domicile. Meanwhile, the alarm went off and the building is surrounded. An attempt is made to parliamentary, but the only alleged interpreter in fact does not understand a word of the unknown language spoken by the four revolutionaries.

Dieci anni dopo la battaglia che ha causato la chiusura della breccia, la ricostruzione del mondo è ancora incompleta. Se da un lato alcune città si sono riprese e prosperano, molte altre, in primis quelle direttamente colpite dagli attacchi dei Kaij?, si trovano ancora in gravissime crisi. Fra queste città vi è Los Angeles: qui Jake Pentecost (figlio dell'eroe di guerra Stacker Pentecost) vive in ville abbandonate sulla costa e rubando rottami di Jaeger da rivendere al mercato nero in cambio di beni primari.
Un giorno l'uomo si ritrova a inseguire la teenager Amara Namani all'interno del covo di quest'ultima, dove si trova un piccolo Jaeger da lei assemblato con pezzi rubati e ribattezzato "Scrapper", che può essere pilotato da una sola persona: i due vengono però scoperti ed arrestati dal Pan-Pacific Defense Corps. Jake viene così contattato dalla sorella adottiva e membro del consiglio della PPDC Mako Mori la quale gli impone di riarruolarsi nel programma come ranger istruttore, mentre Amara viene integrata come cadetto grazie alle sue capacità costruttive ed all'eccellente abilità di pilota dimostrata durante il suo tentativo di fuga.
Nel mentre la Shao Corporation si prepara a lanciare una serie di droni Jaeger pilotabili da remoto il cui scopo è quello di minimizzare il tempo di intercettazione dei Kaiju in caso di attacco. Timorosa di possibili vulnerabilità del sistema da parte di attacchi informatici, Mori intende non appoggiare il progetto il quale per essere attivato necessita del sostegno unanime dei membri del consiglio. La votazione viene organizzata a Sydney sotto la protezione dello Jaeger Gipsy Avenger pilotato da Jake e Nathan "Nate" Lambert, pilota con cui ha un rapporto conflittuale.
