A look at life in New York City during the 1970s and '80s when porn and prostitution were rampant in Manhattan.

The Deuce è una serie scritta e creata da David Simon e George Pelacanos, coppia già acclamata per lo strepitoso The Wire, costantemente in classifica tra le migliori serie TV di tutti i tempi. Nell’arco dei suoi otto episodi, questo nuovo show della HBO tenta di dare un ritratto della Grande Mela negli anni della legalizzazione del porno come industria, seguendo le vicende di tre personaggi completamente investiti dal cambiamento epocale che ne muta per sempre le vite. Sono anni in cui l’HIV comincia a prendere sempre più piede, e lo spaccio di cocaina dà vita a un contesto criminale e violento. A interpretare due dei tre protagonisti è James Franco, il primo asso nella manica calato da HBO per alzare l’asticella qualitativa dello show (qui anche nelle vesti di produttore esecutivo).

Franco ricopre il ruolo di due fratelli gemelli, Vincent e Frankie Martino, legati entrambi al mondo della mafia italo-americana e fortemente inseriti nel sottobosco di miseria e sopravvivenza che avvinghia i quartieri centrali di New York. Nella stessa zona opera Candy, alias la prostituta Eileen Merell, che ha il volto di Maggie Gyllenhaal, impressionante già dal pilot per la sua interpretazione di una donna segnata dalla vita, il cui cinismo fa il paio con l’amore per la famiglia e la necessità di mantenerla economicamente. Attorno a loro un microcosmo fumoso di violenza e crimine che satura le vie e soffoca i protagonisti, pronto a scoppiare da un momento all’altro, non appena la miccia avrà terminato il suo percorso.

Nel XIII secolo Riccardo Cuor di Leone, Re d'Inghilterra, partito per la Crociata resta prigioniero in Terra Santa. Ma, nella foresta di Sherwood, Robin di costoro ne diviene il protettore, addestrandoli alle armi anziché all'uso dei forconi, trovando il tempo per innamorarsi, ricambiato, di Marian, una principessa munita di una cintura di castità ed afflitta da una pudicissima governante tedesca, Broomhilde. Con l'aiuto di Etci, figlio di un principe Moro, del servo cieco Bellosguardo e di Little John, un omone della foresta, Robin capeggia la rivolta. Il bieco Sceriffo, che aveva ingaggiato tre killer siciliani per eliminare Robin e che per impalmare Marion aveva ricevuto una pozione dalla orrenda strega Latrina, innamorata di lui, perisce miseramente. Robin convola a nozze, dopo che Riccardo, rientrato in Patria, lo ha nominato Signore di Sherwood.

In the 13th century Riccardo Cuore di Leone, king of England, left for the Crusade remains a prisoner in the Holy Land. Robson of Loxley, a noble trust, succeeds in escaping and adventurously returns home. Here the evil prince John, King's brother, has usurped the throne, aided by the Sheriff of Ruthington, and oppresses the peasants reduced to misery. But in Sherwood Forest, Robin becomes a protector of these, training them in arms instead of using the forks, finding time to fall in love with Marian, a princess with a chastity belt and afflicted by a pudicish housekeeper German, Broomhilde. With the help of Etci, the son of a Prince Moro, of the blind servant Bellosguardo and of Little John, a forest witch, Robin heads the revolt. The Sheriff, who had hired three Sicilian killers to eliminate Robin, and to impose that Marion had received a potion from the horrible witch Latrina, in love with him, miserably perish. Robin convulsed after wedding, after Riccardo returned home, appointed him Lord of Sherwood.

Mario, modesto impiegato, avviandosi una sera svogliatamente verso casa, scorge una donna che, appoggiata alla ringhiera di un ponticello su un canale, piange singhiozzando. Egli le si avvicina e avendo cercato di confortarla, offrendogli il proprio aiuto, rimane prima sconcertato, poi affascinato dal comportamento della giovane donna, ora cupa e angosciata, ora allegra e quasi infantile. Egli desidera rivederla ed ottiene da lei un appuntamento per la sera dopo. L'indomani Natalia, questo è il nome della ragazza, gli racconta la sua storia. Abbandonata dai genitori, ella vive con la nonna quasi cieca in un appartamento del quale viene subaffittata una stanza. Il loro inquilino era un anno addietro un bel giovane, del quale Natalia s'era perdutamente innamorata. Un giorno l'inquilino se n'era andato, promettendo di ritornare dopo un anno; si sarebbero incontrati presso il ponticello sul canale. Da quel giorno Natalia si strugge nell'attesa. Mario, che a sua volta s'è innamorato della ragazza, cerca di farle dimenticare l'assente, cerca di convincerla a non vivere di illusioni e di vane speranze. Il persistente silenzio del fidanzato induce infatti Natalia ad accettare la corte di Mario, col quale balla una sera con trasporto per poi abbandonarlo di nuovo improvvisamente. Delusa ancora una volta nella sua attesa, Natalia ritorna a Mario e sembra voglia fare di tutto per corrispondere al suo amore. Ma avviandosi con lui verso casa, sente dei passi che s'avvicinano: è l'uomo che ritorna... Natalia si stacca da Mario e vola felice tra le braccia dell'atteso.

Mario, a modest employee, starting off one night at home, sees a woman who, leaning against the railing of a bridge on a canal, mourns with sobbing. He is approaching her and trying to comfort her, offering her help, she is first disconcerted, then fascinated by the behavior of the now gruesome and sad, now cheerful and almost childish woman. He wants to see her again and she gets an appointment for her tonight. The next day, Natalia, this is the girl's name, tells her story. Abandoned by her parents, she lives with her almost blind grandmother in an apartment where a room is sublet. Their tenant was a handsome young man a year ago, whom Natalia had fallen in love with. One day the tenant had left, promising to return after one year; they would meet at the bridge on the canal. From that day Natalia struggled to wait. Mario, who in turn fell in love with the girl, tried to make her forget her, trying to persuade her not to live with illusions and hopeless hopes. The persistent silence of his boyfriend causes Natalia to accept the court of Mario, with whom he is dancing one evening with transport and then abandoning him suddenly again. Delused once again in her expectation, Natalia returns to Mario and seems to want to do everything to match her love. But starting with him to the house, he feels the steps that come close to him: he is the man who returns ... Natalia breaks away from Mario and flies happy in the arms of the waiting.

In un ospedale militare da campo, durante la guerra di Corea, tre giovani ufficiali chirurghi, pur prestando la loro opera con destrezza e abnegazione, sono insofferenti della disciplina militare, irriverenti verso i superiori, pronti alla beffa sia nei riguardi dei colleghi che delle piacenti infermiere. Dopo alcuni atroci scherzi, due di loro, Pierce e McIntire, vengono inviati temporaneamente in Giappone, dove, pur compiendo con abilità un difficile intervento, non mancano di porsi in contrasto con un alto funzionario americano. Tornati al loro ospedale, riescono a evitare una spiacevole inchiesta sul loro comportamento puntando sullo spirito sportivo di un generale, che ha organizzato un torneo di football americano. Ottenuta con alcuni stratagemmi la vittoria sulla squadra avversaria, i tre amici lasciano infine l'ospedale per far ritorno in patria.

In a military field hospital, during the Korean War, three young officers, while performing their work with dexterity and abnegation, are inconsistent with military discipline, irreverent to superiors, ready to bewail both colleagues and their fans nurse. After some nasty jokes, two of them, Pierce and McIntire, are temporarily sent to Japan, where, despite their skillful performance, they are in contradiction with a senior US official. Returning to their hospital, they manage to avoid an unpleasant inquiry into their behavior by pointing to the sport's spirit of a general who has organized an American football tournament. Obtained with some stratagems victory over the opposing team, the three friends finally leave the hospital to return home.

Partendo dalla vicenda di Nur-el-Din e della bella schiava Zumurrud, che egli perde, cerca e infine ritrova, il film narra di due giovani che attirano fanciulli e fanciulle, li fanno accoppiare per scoprire chi di loro ami di più; quindi Aziz è costretto a subire l'evirazione per aver tradito la donna per cui aveva abbandonato la fidanzata; Tagi riesce a far innamorare di sé una principessa a tal punto da indurla a uccidere il padre; due principi, dopo vicende sanguinose, si fanno bonzi.

Il film racconta alcune novelle del Boccaccio, cui fanno da legame, nella prima parte, la storia di Ser Cepperello che, ingannando un prete con una falsa confessione, si vede trasformato in Ser Ciappelletto e adorato come santo, nella seconda, un pittore impegnato in un affresco, Andreuccio, si fa derubare di tutti i suoi soldi da una giovane che si finge sua sorellastra, per poi ritrovare la fortuna spogliando dei suoi gioielli la salma di un vescovo. Spacciandosi per sordomuto, Masetti viene accolto in un convento di suore, dalle quali si lascia sedurre, per poi crollare esaurito. Lisabetta, cui i fratelli hanno ucciso il giovane amante, taglia la testa al cadavere per conservarla in casa sotto una pianta di basilico. Caterina e Ricciardo, dopo essersi amati, vengono uniti in matrimonio dagli stessi compiaciuti genitori della giovane. Tingoccio torna dall'aldilà per rivelare al timorato Meuccio che far all'amore non è considerato un peccato. Fingendo di volerla trasformare in cavalla, Danno Gianni si gode la moglie di un ingenuo contadino. L'infedele Peronella induce il marito a entrare in una giara, per impedirgli di scoprire il suo amante, al quale subito si concede.

The film tells some novels of the Boccaccio, linked in the first part by the story of Ser Cepperello who, by deceiving a priest with a false confession, is transformed into Ser Ciappelletto and adored as a saint, in the second, a painter engaged in a fresco, Andreuccio, is robbed of all his money by a young man who pretends to be his sister-in-law, and then find the fortune by stripping his jewels from a bishop's wound. Spitting out of deafness, Masetti is welcomed into a convent of nuns, from which he lets himself be seduced, and then collapses out of thin air. Lisabetta, whose brothers killed the young lover, cuts his head to the corpse to keep it in the house under a basil plant. Catherine and Ricciardo, after having loved each other, are joined by the same beloved parents as the young man. Tingoccio returns from the afterlife to reveal to the timid Meuccio that to love is not considered a sin. Pretending to turn her into a mare, Dian Gianni enjoys the wife of a naive farmer. The infidel Peronella induces her husband to enter a jar to prevent her from discovering her lover, whom she immediately grants.

Il papà è Armando, il figlio adulto si chiama Cristiano. Ognuno ha una sua vita che non ha niente a che fare con l'altro. Il papà è un inveterato cacciatore di donne, che spesso riesce a "comperare" con i suoi molti soldi; il figlio è un timido inguaribile, piuttosto inibito a causa di tristi esperienze, che partecipa con entusiasmo ad un gruppo ecologico, fino a quando non aprirà gli occhi di fronte allo sfruttamento ignobile al quale vanno soggetti, lui e i suoi amici, da parte del leader, il "professore". Il film procede descrivendo le avventure del papà e del figlio, in modo da farci vedere il mondo dell'uno con gli occhi dell'altro e viceversa. Durante le tappe del viaggio con papà sentiremo le riflessioni di quest'ultimo sulla vita, sulle relazioni impossibili tra genitori e figlioli oggi, sull'opportunità di farsi gli affari propri in ogni circostanza che si presenti favorevole per far soldi ad ogni costo.

Esposito e Amilcare imbrogliano un turista americano con la solita patacca e vengono inutilmente inseguiti dal gabbato. I due partecipano in seguito ad una distribuzione di pacchi-dono americani, accompagnati da ragazzi che spacciano per loro figli, e vengono riconosciuti dal presidente del comitato di beneficenza americano, che è appunto il turista gabbato. Esposito scappa, ma viene arrestato dopo un lungo inseguimento dal sergente Bottoni, al quale fugge poi di mano, con uno stratagemma. In seguito alle proteste ufficiali dell'autorevole americano, Bottoni è sospeso dal servizio e perderà il posto se entro tre mesi non rintraccerà il truffatore. Il povero Bottoni nasconde l'accaduto alla propria famiglia, si mette in borghese e comincia la caccia. Scopre la casa di Esposito, ne avvicina la famiglia, fa in modo che suo figlio faccia amicizia col figlio del ladro. Finalmente Bottoni ha l'occasione di arrestare Esposito ma entrambi sono d'accordo nel nascondere la cosa alle rispettive famiglie. Esposito finge di partire per un viaggio, il sergente è riammesso in servizio e si occuperà della famiglia di Esposito, fino al giorno in cui questo potrà tornare dal suo viaggio.

Esposito and Amilcare cheat an American tourist with the usual patocca and are unnecessarily pursued by the gabbato. The two participate in a distribution of American parcels, accompanied by boys who give up their children, and are recognized by the chairman of the American charity committee, which is the tourist gabbato. Esposito escapes, but is arrested after a long chase by Sergeant Button, and then flees out of his hand with a stratagem. Following the official protests of the authoritative American, Buttons are suspended from the service and will lose their seat if within three months the traitor will not trace. The Poor Buttons hides the happening to their family, gets bourgeois and starts hunting. Discovering the house of Esposito, approaching her family, makes her son friendly with the son of the thief. Finally Button has the opportunity to arrest Esposito but both agree to hide the thing to their families. Esposito pretends to leave for a trip, the sergeant is reloaded and will handle the Esposito family until the day he can return from his trip.

Coliandro è un giovane ispettore, in servizio alla questura di Bologna, che si ritrova sempre invischiato suo malgrado in vicende più grandi di lui. Tuttavia Coliandro non si tira mai indietro, ma la sua sbadataggine e la sua incapacità investigativa finiscono inevitabilmente per cacciarlo nei guai.

Nel corso delle sue indagini Coliandro riceve l'aiuto dei colleghi, gli ispettori Trombetti e Gamberini, e l'agente Gargiulo, mentre a mettergli costantemente i bastoni fra le ruote ci sono il suo superiore, il commissario De Zan, e la dottoressa Longhi, sostituto procuratore, i quali non hanno mai visto di buon occhio le iniziative personali di Coliandro, e non nutrono grande stima di lui. In ogni indagine Coliandro è aiutato da una ragazza, sempre diversa (una testimone, un'amica, una parente della vittima), che con le sue informazioni lo aiuta a portare a termine l'indagine. Coliandro si prende sempre una cotta per la ragazza di turno, ma alla fine della vicenda, inesorabilmente, l'ispettore si ritrova come sempre solo e deluso.

Anche se Coliandro riesce ogni volta, in un modo o nell'altro, a venire a capo dell'indagine (ma solo grazie alla sua testardaggine e a dei provvidenziali colpi di fortuna), nessuno gliene rende mai merito, e alla fine l'ispettore è sempre costretto suo malgrado a subire delle punizioni per via del suo operato "poco professionale".

Semplicemente meravigliosoo!!
Questa registrazione è un omaggio alla grande leggenda Larry Adler, per i suoi 80 anni di vita!
L'album è prodotto da George Martin.
Il suono, l'orchestra e gli arrangiamenti sono straordinari, grandissime le inerpretazioni di artisti illuminati.
Ritroviamo tra gli altri: Peter Gabriel, Sting, Elton John, Elvis Costello, Cher, Bon Jovi.
Larry Adler semplicemente magnifico, la sua performance di Rhapsody in Blue é eccellente, lo si ritrova poi in tutte le fasce, la sua armonica accompagna tutto il cd.
Data la qualità della musica e la quantità di talenti coinvolti, mi sento di poter affermare che l'album lo si ascolti con piacere e lo si digerisca armonoisamente.
Lo raccomando a tutti, anche a quelli che che non conoscono il talento di Gershwin, questo album potrebbe servire come aperitivo prima del piatto principale.

Il vento fischia in una strada residenziale e quieta in un modesto sobborgo di Buenos Aires. Sta diventando scuro. Un lampo illumina una macchina parcheggiata alla fine della strada, il cofano è aperto. Due uomini sono curvi sul motore, un terzo siede al volante. Un autobus si ferma e un uomo in un cappotto pesante scende. Improvvisamente uno degli uomini vicino al cofano colpisce l'uomo col cappotto e lo getta nella macchina con violenza. I rapitori fuggono. Ma non sono criminali comuni. Sono agenti addestrati del Mossad e questo è il culmine di un'operazione segreta durata tre anni. Hanno appena catturato Adolf Eichmann, il principale architetto della Soluzione Finale di Hitler.

Franz Stangl e Gustav Wagner ...

Franz Stangl, nato ad Altmunster in Austria il 26 marzo 1908, entrò nel 1931 nella polizia austriaca, e nel 1935 fu promosso alla sezione investigativa criminale. L'anno seguento aderì all'illegale Partito Nazista Austriaco, e nel 1940, con l'Austria annessa al Terzo Reich divenne sovrintendente della polizia per l'Istituto Euthanasia, che si occupò del trasferimento di milioni di civili, per lo più invalidi fisici o mentali, e personaggi politici. Con il tempo si fece strada nel partito e nelle SS, diventando comandante del campo di Sobibor, finché non venne trasferito a Treblinka, dove fu responsabile dell'omicidio di 100000 ebrei.
In seguito fu mandato a Trieste per organizzare la caccia ai partigiani jugoslavi e in seguito in Pianura Padana per la resistenza contro gli Alleati. Fu catturato alla fine della guerra e reputato colpevole per i fatti accaduti durante la sua partecipazione al programma Euthanasia. Fuggì in Italia assieme al suo collega Wagner grazie alla Chiesa cattolica. Da Roma in Siria per poi raggiungere il Brasile. Solamente nel 1961 gli fu accreditata la responsabilità per l'omicidio di numerosi ebrei. Wiesenthal gli dette la caccia, e lo catturò il 28 febbraio 1967. Fu portato in Germania Ovest e qui condannato per la co-responsabilità nell'omicidio di 900000 ebrei a Treblinka. Fu condannato all'ergastolo nel 1970. Morirà di infarto nel carcere di Dusseldorf nel 1971.

Nato in Austria Gustav Wagner partecipò al programma Euthanasia ad Harteim.
Fu il braccio destro di Stangl al campo di sterminio di Sobibor. Quando Stangl venne trasferito al campo di Treblinka Wagner divenne vicecomandante a Sobibor sotto gli ordini di Franz Reichleitner.
A Sobibor Wagner si occupava della selezione di quei prigionieri che potevano avere qualche utilità lavorativa per il campo. Si occupò anche del funzionamento delle camere a gas. Dagli scampati è stato indicato come il peggior sadico assassino di tutto il campo di Sobibor. Quando Sobibor venne smantellata venne inviato come molti uomini che avevano lavorato nei campi di sterminio della operazione Reinhard in Italia.
Qui collaborò al funzionamento del campo di concentramento e sterminio di San Sabba vicino Trieste. Alla fine della guerra riuscì a fuggire in Brasile insieme al suo amico Stangl.
Scoperto alla metà degli anni Settanta nonostante fosse stata avanzata domanda di estradizione dalla Germania, il Brasile rifiutò di consegnarlo. Nell'ottobre 1980, abbandonato dai suoi amici e ridotto in miseria, si impiccò.
