Trama - Storyline:

Nel frattempo in quegli anni Sara si è sposata di nuovo, con Jacob Anton Ness, e con lui ha cresciuto Mike, il figlio avuto con Michael. Quando Lincoln la informa degli indizi, insieme chiedono aiuto agli amici Sucre e C-Note per elaborare un piano che permetta sia di far evadere Michael dal carcere sia di farlo uscire dallo Yemen.........

Uno studente universitario giapponese (Tatsuya Fujiwara) sogna di seguire le orme del padre (Takeshi Kaga) all'interno del corpo di polizia, ma quando trova del tutto casualmente un taccuino nero che sembra essere caduto dal cielo la sua esistenza cambierà irrimediabilmente. Guidato da uno shinigami (un dio della morte), scoprirà che quel quaderno nero ha il potere sovrannaturale di poter uccidere qualsiasi persona sia iscritta all'interno delle sue pagine e a quel punto penserà di poter realizzare l'utopica realtà di un mondo senza criminali, almeno fino a quando sul suo progetto non si frapporrà l'anomalo e misterioso L (Ken'ichi Matsuyama), che lo considera più un assassino che un giustiziere.

Uno squilibrato tenta di uccidere Misa Amane in un vicolo ma improvvisamente l'uomo muore. Subito dopo dal nulla compare un quaderno nero e non appena la ragazza lo tocca vede sconcertata un dio della morte di nome Rem. Entra quindi in possesso del Death Note e inizia ad imitare il mitico Kira di cui è una fan. Spedisce poi un messaggio alla redazione di Sakura Tv in cui dimostra di poter uccidere a piacimento e chiede all'autentico Kira di incontrarla. Il messaggio viene trasmesso e chiunque tenta di bloccare la messa in onda viene ucciso. Infatti Amane ha "gli occhi", con cui vede nome e cognome di un malcapitato semplicemente guardando il suo viso.

Dunwich, 1980: padre Thomas vaga nel cimitero. All'improvviso si impicca su un grosso albero.

Condottiero giusto e malinconico, Cesare abbandona presto l'idea di raggiungere la pace con la fazione nemica e, per vendicare le perdite subite tra i suoi simili, dichiara guerra alla razza umana. Di fronte a lui si dispiegano gli squadroni corazzati dello spietato colonnello senza scrupoli interpretato da Woody Harrelson. Quest'ultimo si rifiuta di cedere il pianeta ai primati, e al grido di "siamo l'inizio e la fine", marcia con sue le truppe per distruggerli tutti. Un pugno di scimmie si addentra nel mezzo di una landa innevata alla ricerca di un misterioso fortino, dove si nasconde qualcuno che potrà determinare l'esito del conflitto, le sorti delle due specie e il destino di tutto il pianeta.

In questo difficile contesto, si intrecciano le vicende del detective di polizia Josephus Miller, di stanza su Cerere, a cui viene affidata l'indagine sulla scomparsa di una donna terrestre, Julie Andromeda Mao, e il secondo ufficiale del cargo porta ghiaccio Canterbury, James Holden, inavvertitamente coinvolto in un incidente che rischia di destabilizzare irreversibilmente le relazioni tra Marte e la Terra e innescare un conflitto interplanetario.
