"Il mio mitra è un contrabbasso che ti spara sulla faccia" cantava Demetrio Stratos nel '74 e così deve aver pensato pure la bella Lauryn Hill dando alle stampe questo MTV Unplugged un paio di anni fa.
Un disco impegnato e "di spessore" per l'ex reginetta del pop-easy listening (ex dei Fugees) passata, nell'arco di un paio di dischi, dal puro intrattenimento alla composizione di queste canzoni di rabbia e di rivolta. Canzoni che parlano di diritti civili, di poltica, della situazione della donna, insomma, canzoni "sentite" e, se me lo concedete, di "impegno", Che non è "l'impegno de noantri" sbandierato dai nostri 4 cantanti di casa per promuovere i loro album al Live8, o le pseudo donazioni fatte a pseudo organizzazioni con i ricavi di pseudo vendite etc. L'impegno della nostra Lauryn trasuda da ogni nota suonata in questo disco, canzoni come comizi e note "sudate" che sanno di lotta e di rivoluzione. Alla nostra eroina, passata coscientemente dalle limousine dorate del mondo POP alle barricate della canzone politica, oggi non serve granchè. Rinnegati i lussi di una vita da pop star immaginiamo scialba e vuota (così almeno ci piace immaginarla), la pasionaria Hill impugna la chitarra come un mitra e su un palco spoglio senza trucchi e senza luci, canta le sue storie con l'anima e l'interpretazione di un'amazzone stanca ma agguerrita.
Bellissime e "sentite" le sue stonature e i rari momenti dove la voce viene a mancare che danno all'interpretazione dei brani, un calore e un senso di verità ancora più coinvolgente... momenti emozionanti da vera pelle d'oca. Una volta tanto una cantante che fa il percorso "al contrario" a differenza dei più che partono "rocker e maledetti" per stabilizzarsi, col tempo e l'età (e diciamo pure, grazie al sostanzioso conto in banca) su registri più tranquilli e rilassati (vedi il Blasco Nazionale tanto per dirne uno) nel migliore dei casi. Opinionisti e filosofi nei peggiori.
Un disco forse eccessivamente lungo e parlato che mette a dura prova chi se la cava così così con lo slang dell'americano parlato, a cui però va comunque il nostro plauso.
Un applauso, dunque, al coraggio e alla grandezza di questa Artista che ha saputo rimettersi in discussione percorrendo la via più impervia e rischiosa che un'artista possa percorrere: due luci, una voce e una chitarra. Qui non si bara, niente mega produzioni, niente effetti stroboscopici, niente spot o mega promozioni televisive, niente 4 palchi rotanti o "campivolo" del cazzo.
Qui si è nudi: se hai l'anima o no, qui si sente. Mica cazzi.

Ambientato nel XXI secolo Ghost in the Shell è in superficie un thriller di spionaggio futuristico che segue le imprese del maggiore Motoko Kusanagi, membro della Nona Sezione, una squadra speciale di operazioni in incognito della Commissione nazionale di pubblica sicurezza giapponese specializzata nel combattere crimini legati alla tecnologia. Sebbene tecnicamente sia pari grado agli altri membri, Kusanagi ricopre il ruolo di leader della squadra e viene solitatamente chiamata maggiore a causa del suo passato rango nelle forze armate. È in gran parte robotizzata, un cervello umano in un corpo artificiale capace di imprese sovrumane e specializzata per il suo lavoro.

L'ambientazione di Ghost in the Shell è distintivamente cyberpunk o postcyberpunk, simile a quelle della Trilogia dello sprawl dello scrittore di fantascienza William Gibson, sebbene l'opera di Shirow sia maggiormente focalizzata sulle ramificazioni etiche e filosofiche della fusione tra l'umanità e la tecnologia. Gran parte degli uomini sono collegati alla rete, a cui possono accedere non soltanto mediante terminali fisici, ma soprattutto attraverso impianti situati nel loro stesso cervello. Diversi uomini sono diventati cyborg, ovvero esseri in parte organici in parte robotici. Quello che differenzia un cyborg integrale da un robot è la presenza di un cervello umano e del Ghost, ovvero dell'anima, qualcosa di intrinseco e inspiegabile che permette agli uomini di "sentire" sensazioni particolari. Il Ghost è l'istinto non mediato dai calcoli. Lo sviluppo dell'intelligenza artificiale ed un'onnipresente rete computerizzata sono il palcoscenico per la rivoluzione dell'identità umana e della unicità di sé stessi. In particolare il manga affronta direttamente queste problematiche: Kusanagi ed i suoi colleghi devono affrontare minacce esterne così come soffrire conflitti interni dovuti alle loro proprie nature.

1715. Al ritorno da una passeggiata nei suoi giardini, Luigi XIV non riesce dormire, a causa di un forte dolore alla gamba. Di giorno, cerca di fare il suo dovere, di partecipare alla messa quotidiana, di ascoltare i suoi ministri, ma le notti si fanno più e più agitate. Mangia sempre meno ed è sempre più affaticato. Il suo medico fidato, Fagon, lo segue da vicino, ma non riconosce la cancrena che minaccia la gamba fino a che non è troppo tardi. Comincia così la lenta agonia del più grande re di Francia, appassionato di donne, di architettura e di guerre, costretto come ogni comune mortale a prepararsi alla morte.

By day, he tries to do his duty, to participate in the daily mass, to listen to his ministers, but the nights become more and more agitated. Eat less and is getting tired. His trusted physician, Fagon, follows him closely but does not recognize the gangrene that threatens his leg until it's too late. Thus begins the slow agony of the greatest king of France, passionate about women, architecture and wars, forced as every common mortal to prepare for death.

This is a DVD i Bought with a magazine, Is comprensive of 3 parts:
The first part is a concert live at the Hollywood Bowl the 5th july of 1968
The second part is a collection of promotional video clips and some shot behind the scenes
The third part is a storic video of Doors partecipation to a PBS special before the famous concert of 1969 in Miami that ended with the arresr of Jim Morrison.

Seconda guerra mondiale. Quattro giovani nordafricani, ognuno con la propria vita: Messaoud l'innamorato, Yassir il mercenario, Said il povero che cerca fortuna all'estero e Abdelkader l'idealista. Dopo un breve periodo di addestramento, vengono mandati combattere i Tedeschi in diversi teatri europei: la celebre battaglia di Montecassino, risoltasi in un carnaio, l'arrivo in Provenza, l'avanzata nella valle del Rodano e la spedizione nell'Alsazia.
Nel corso della campagna militare, si rendono conto che solamente i soldati francesi sono promossi, hanno cibo migliore e possono visitare le proprie famiglie, mentre i nordafricani sono vergognosamente discriminati e trattati come combattenti di second'ordine.
Ai giorni nostri, l'ultimo superstite Abdelkader, oramai anziano e povero, residente in Francia, fa visita alle tombe dei suoi compagni. I titoli di coda rammentano come le autorità francesi avessero sospeso la pensione di guerra per i reduci, una volta che i loro paesi di origine proclamarono l'indipendenza, fino allo sblocco deciso dal presidente francese Chirac.

Riconoscimenti : Presentato in concorso al Festival di Cannes 2006, ha ottenuto un premio per l'interpretazione maschile collettivo, per Jamel Debbouze, Samy Naceri, Sami Bouajila, Roschdy Zem e Bernard Blancan. È stato presentato anche al 27º Festival di cinema africano di Verona, dove ha vinto il premio dell'Associazione degli Studenti Africani di Verona (ASAV).
Nel 2007 ha ricevuto una Nomination all'Oscar per "Miglior film straniero".

Il venticinquenne Luca, soprannominato Principe, capo dei più scatenati ultrà romanisti, dopo due anni trascorsi in carcere per un fallito tentativo di rapina, torna in libertà alla vigilia della partita tra la Roma e la Juventus. Egli intuisce che molte cose, durante la sua assenza, sono cambiate, anche se Red, il suo migliore amico, e Cinzia, che era la sua ragazza, non trovano il coraggio di confessargli che si amano e che hanno progettato di trasferirsi insieme a Terni, dove sperano di trovare lavoro. Il gruppo degli ultrà parte per Torino, e Red accetta di portare con sé Fabio, il fratellino undicenne di Cinzia, tifoso scatenato. Durante la notte trascorsa in treno, affiorano spesso gli attriti latenti fra Principe e Red. Francesco Di Nardo, giovane magistrato di origini siciliane, risulta scomodo ai "piani alti" per aver avviato indagini su alcuni pezzi grossi della polizia. Il procuratore capo Lupi lo spedisce dunque a Oria, un paese della provincia di Brindisi il cui tribunale è malandato e malfunzionante, con processi che - seppur di piccola entità - sono pendenti da molti anni. Unico collaboratore l'anziano cancelliere Agenore Trotta, devoto dipendente dello Stato ma abituato ormai ad una gestione "comoda" del pubblico ufficio di giustizia.

Si trova subito a fronteggiare un grosso problema: la cava di pietra che dà lavoro a molti abitanti del paese è chiusa da molto tempo nonostante le sovvenzioni erogata dalla Cassa del Mezzogiorno e il decreto della magistratura che ne intima la riapertura. Il proprietario della cava è l'ingegnere Baldassarre, politicamente ed economicamente uomo di potere, che non intende riaprire la cava.

Nelle sue indagini il magistrato Di Nardo conoscerà don Carmine Di Cristina, boss locale e uomo d'onore, che gli consiglia ripetutamente di non alterare gli equilibri esistenti nel paese in cambio di una collaborazione. Ma Di Nardo non accetta compromessi e attende l'occasione per poter arrestare l'ingegner Baldassarre assieme a don Carmine e i suoi scagnozzi; l'occasione gli sarà fornita dal crudele omicidio dell'appuntato dei carabinieri Piacentini, ammazzato con la sua fidanzata mentre Di Nardo lascia Oria poiché trasferito ad altro incarico.

Il magistrato ritorna dunque al paese e riprende le indagini, riuscendo a far arrestare l'ingegner Baldassarre, don Carmine e il suo braccio destro Tony il Marsigliese.

Francesco Di Nardo, a young magistrate of Sicilian origins, is uncomfortable at the "high floor" for investigating some large pieces of police. Chief Prosecutor Lupi then sends him to Oria, a country in the province of Brindisi, whose court is maladjusted and malfunctioning, with processes that - albeit small in size - have been pending for many years. The only co-worker is Elder Chancellor Agenore Trotta, a devout employee of the state, but has become accustomed to a "convenient" public office of justice.

He immediately faces a major problem: the stone quarry that has worked for many people in the country has been closed for a long time despite the subsidies granted by the Cassa del Mezzogiorno and the decree of the judiciary that intimates it to reopen. The owner of the quarry is the engineer Baldassarre, politically and economically a man of power, who does not intend to reopen the quarry.

In his inquiries, the magistrate Di Nardo will know Don Carmine Di Cristina, local boss and man of honor, who repeatedly advises him not to alter the existing balance in the country in exchange for a collaboration. But Di Nardo does not accept compromises and awaits the opportunity to stop the engineer Baldassarre along with Don Carmine and his henchmen; The opportunity will be provided by the cruel murder of the accused of Carabinieri Piacentini, killed with his girlfriend while Di Nardo leaves Oria for transferring to another position.

E’ strano Leonardo Vitale. Si isola spesso. Ogni tanto balbetta. Ha paura del buio. Viene arrestato la prima volta, il 17 agosto 1972, come sospettato autore del sequestro Cassina. Leonardo durante l'interrogatorio crolla, si mette persino a piangere. Continua a ripetere che lui non c'entra niente ed inizia a fare nomi e cognomi. Dopo 43 giorni di cella di isolamento viene rilasciato, ma tornato a casa è depresso, impaurito. Non vuole vedere nessuno e per venti giorni non spiccica una parola. Malgrado le cure di madre e sorella, Leonardo peggiora di giorno in giorno. Alterna la depressione alla paura. Sta sempre a spiare alla finestra e sussulta a ogni rumore. E’ convinto che stiano per venire a ucciderlo. Poche settimane dopo Vitale viene internato in una clinica psichiatrica. Un anno dopo, il 30 marzo del '73, Leonardo confessa al commissario di essere un assassino. Dice che ha ritrovato la fede in Dio e deve confessare per salvarsi l'anima... "L'Uomo di vetro" è tratto dal libro omonimo di Salvatore Parlagreco (Ed. Bompiani) e si ispira alla storia di Leonardo Vitale, il primo pentito di mafia che decise di rompere il muro di omertà che impediva alla magistratura di penetrare il sistema mafioso. Vitale pagò questa scelta con il carcere, il manicomio giudiziario e poi con la vita, dato che la mafia, una volta tornato in libertà non esitò ad assassinarlo.

It's weird Leonardo Vitale. It is island often. Every once in awkward. He's afraid of the dark. He was arrested the first time, on August 17, 1972, as suspected author of the sequestration Cassina. He says that he has regained faith in God and must confess to save his soul ... "The Glass Man" is derived from the book of the same name by Salvatore Parlagreco (Ed. Bompiani) and is inspired by the story of Leonardo Vitale, the first Repentant of mafia who decided to break the wall of omerts that prevented the magistrate from penetrating the mafia system. Vitale paid this choice with the jail, the judicial jail and then the life, since the mafia once returned to freedom did not hesitate to assassinate him.

Giovanni Manzoni è un ex gangster mafioso italiano che si è pentito e ha testimoniato contro i suoi capi; per questo motivo lui e la sua famiglia (la moglie Maggie e i loro figli Belle e Warren) vivono sotto copertura grazie al programma di protezione testimoni dell'FBI, in quanto il vecchio boss di Giovanni, don Luchese, sta conducendo dalla prigione una feroce caccia all'uomo. Tuttavia nei vari spostamenti i componenti della famiglia hanno avuto dei comportamenti violenti, rendendosi potenzialmente visibili, il che ha costretto a spostarli di continuo per evitare che fossero rintracciati e uccisi.
Dopo l'ennesima copertura saltata, la famiglia assume il cognome Blake e si trasferisce a Chalong-sur-Avre, uno sperduto (e immaginario) paese della Normandia, nei pressi di Verneuil-sur-Avre; il loro protettore, l'agente Stansfield, chiede loro di mantenere un basso profilo e di integrarsi con la popolazione locale, allo scopo di evitare l'ennesimo spostamento. Ma anche in questo caso le abitudini mafiose di ciascun membro della famiglia faticano a scomparire, sin dal primo giorno: Maggie fa saltare in aria un supermercato gestito da proprietari xenofobi, Warren si fa strada nella piccola malavita della sua scuola e Belle picchia a sangue alcuni suoi spasimanti fastidiosi e una compagna di scuola dalle mani lunghe. Giovanni, invece, sembra condurre una vita tranquilla, spacciandosi per scrittore con i suoi nuovi vicini di casa. Ben presto però le sue tendenze violente iniziano ad emergere nel momento in cui si trova a dover fare i conti con le piccole difficoltà della vita quotidiana.

Colpito dai missili, l'aereo cade, Burnett e il copilota Steakhouse si gettano con il paracadute. Mentre Burnett sale su una collina per attivare il contatto telefonico, arrivano soldati serbi. Sasha, killer designato, spara di spalle a Steakhouse, uccidendolo. Rimasto solo e scoperto, Burnett si dà alla fuga, inseguito da Sasha, che deve eliminarlo. Quando faticosamente raggiunge il punto di incontro stabilito e crede di essere in salvo, Burnett si sente dire che non può essere prelevato in quella zona: il rischio è di compromettere il delicato processo di pace avviato dall'ONU. Dovendo raggiungere una zona presidiata dagli Usa, Burnett comincia una fuga tra territori desolati e città fantasma rase al suolo. Passa tra sparatorie, bombe, attentati, e ad un certo punto scambia la propria divisa con quella di un serbo. Annunciato alla portaerei come morto, Burnett va avanti, fin quando decide di andare a recuperare le fotografie scattate alle fosse comuni, che avevano determinato la reazione serba. Giunto sul luogo, riattiva una radio e fa capire di essere ancora vivo. Reigart a questo punto decide di andare a prenderlo, anche contravvenendo agli ordini. Dopo una colluttazione, Burnett uccide il killer Sasha, prende le fotografie, e finalmente arriva l'elicottero a salvarlo. Tornati in patria, Reigart sarà sollevato dal comando e assegnato ad un ufficio a Washington, che lui però rifiuta per andare in pensione mentre Burnett rimarrà nei marines.

Having to reach a US-led area, Burnett begins an escape between desolate territories and a ghost town rushing to the ground. It goes between shootings, bombs, attacks, and at some point exchanges its uniform with that of a Serb. Announced by the aircraft carrier as a deadman, Burnett goes on, as long as he decides to go and recover the photographs taken to the common pits that had determined the Serbian reaction. Regan, dodicenne figlia dell'attrice MacNeil, in occasione di un ricevimento in casa propria inesplicabilmente dimostra segni di squilibrio mentale. La madre, preoccupata, ricorre a luminari che sottopongono la fanciulla sventurata a molteplici indagini e dolorose terapie, finendo con il confessare l'incapacità della scienza. Rumori inesplicabili e altri fenomeni, le indagini di Kinderman sulla strana morte di un regista amico di famiglia, tutto induce la madre atea a ricorrere al padre gesuita Karras.
