Ambientato nel XXI secolo Ghost in the Shell è in superficie un thriller di spionaggio futuristico che segue le imprese del maggiore Motoko Kusanagi, membro della Nona Sezione, una squadra speciale di operazioni in incognito della Commissione nazionale di pubblica sicurezza giapponese specializzata nel combattere crimini legati alla tecnologia. Sebbene tecnicamente sia pari grado agli altri membri, Kusanagi ricopre il ruolo di leader della squadra e viene solitatamente chiamata maggiore a causa del suo passato rango nelle forze armate. È in gran parte robotizzata, un cervello umano in un corpo artificiale capace di imprese sovrumane e specializzata per il suo lavoro.

L'ambientazione di Ghost in the Shell è distintivamente cyberpunk o postcyberpunk, simile a quelle della Trilogia dello sprawl dello scrittore di fantascienza William Gibson, sebbene l'opera di Shirow sia maggiormente focalizzata sulle ramificazioni etiche e filosofiche della fusione tra l'umanità e la tecnologia. Gran parte degli uomini sono collegati alla rete, a cui possono accedere non soltanto mediante terminali fisici, ma soprattutto attraverso impianti situati nel loro stesso cervello. Diversi uomini sono diventati cyborg, ovvero esseri in parte organici in parte robotici. Quello che differenzia un cyborg integrale da un robot è la presenza di un cervello umano e del Ghost, ovvero dell'anima, qualcosa di intrinseco e inspiegabile che permette agli uomini di "sentire" sensazioni particolari. Il Ghost è l'istinto non mediato dai calcoli. Lo sviluppo dell'intelligenza artificiale ed un'onnipresente rete computerizzata sono il palcoscenico per la rivoluzione dell'identità umana e della unicità di sé stessi. In particolare il manga affronta direttamente queste problematiche: Kusanagi ed i suoi colleghi devono affrontare minacce esterne così come soffrire conflitti interni dovuti alle loro proprie nature.

It's hard to imagine a video opera collection without this superbly sung MET production of Bellini's I Puritani. Not that it's perfect by any means, but its excellences--most especially Anna Netrebko's electrifying singing and acting of Elvira--banish carping about other aspects of this memorable night at the opera. Netrebko is fragile from the start, her facial expressions and hand movements immediately conveying the girl's vulnerability. She has a mad scene in each act; the first when she realizes her fiancé has disappeared with another woman, the third, in the final act, a brief relapse when her returned fiancé is taken by the army to be executed. But it's in the second act that the real fireworks occur, with a Mad Scene that rivals Donizetti's Lucia for bel canto primacy. Here, Elvira is first heard off-stage, after the chorus has informed us that she's deranged. She enters wearing her wedding gown and begins Qui la voce in a voice as frail as her psyche. Netrebko is gripping here, wandering up and down the central staircase, a lost, pathetic creature. Later in the scene she delivers a spectacular display of theatrics as well as fearless vocalism by singing a florid coloratura passage while lying on her back, her head dangling into the orchestra pit.

Tenor Eric Cutler is her fiancé, Arturo, who helps the Stuart Queen escape from the Puritan stronghold, not a wise move in Cromwell's England, not to mention unhinging Elvira. Bellini gives Arturo one of the most cruelly taxing entrance arias in opera, A te o cara, which Cutler delivers with aplomb. His singing throughout is ardent, well-tinted, and easeful. As Elvira's uncle, bass John Relyea is in excellent voice, his big Act III aria especially well done. Franco Vassallo, as Riccardo, Arturo's rival, is more generic, his baritone lacking the color and shading to bring the character to life. Conductor Patrick Summers leads singers and the superb MET Orchestra in an idiomatic performance, allowing the long lines of Bellinian melody to ripen and expand while also generating excitement in the more dramatic scenes.

Visually Sandro Sequi's 30-year-old production with sets by Ming Cho Lee, is showing its age, but the lighting and video direction (by Gary Halvorson) manage to make it look better than it did in the house. Sharon Thomas' stage direction is largely limited to the stand-and-sing variety, the chorus composed into static formations that make for pretty still photos but lack life. Much of the acting is rudimentary, with the singers looking either bored or stiff or engaged in stock generic emoting. Only Netrebko surpasses this with acting that's on par with her singing--consumed by the character, intense and knowing in her subtle movements and reactions, conspiring with Bellini to make this a must-have. --Dan Davis

Il quarantenne Jean con il suo lavoro di attore ha toccato il fondo e, disperato, è disposto ad accettare qualsiasi altra occupazione. Presso l'ufficio di collocamento, riceve una proposta piuttosto strana: aiutare la polizia a ricostruire le scene del crimine recitando la parte del morto. Si sono conclusi con questa tragedia i cento giorni di Dalla Chiesa come prefetto di Palermo. Il film inizia con l'uccisione dell'ispettore Giuliano, di Pier Santi Mattarella, di Pio La Torre. La mafia imperversa, l'opinione pubblica è inquieta e il governo ricorre al generale Dalla Chiesa, vittorioso del terrorismo, perchè abbia a sconfiggere anche la mafia. Ma questi sono solo buoni desideri, finché non c'è un'efficace legge antimafia e il prefetto di Palermo non ha pieni poteri. Queste sono le giuste richieste del gen. Dalla Chiesa, queste sono le carenze e le colpe del governo. La mafia non è solo potente in Sicilia, ma è molto più potente in Parlamento, ove fa bocciare la legge sull'esattoria da affidare ai poteri pubblici, è potente fuori Italia, specialmente negli Stati Uniti. Fidando sulle promesse, il generale affronta il suo incarico difficile con il profondo senso del dovere, sacrificando i suoi sentimenti personali, non vuole privilegi, è molto chiaro, molto energico, ma anche molto umano. Lo stato non delega il suo potere ad alcuno - dice Dalla Chiesa - tanto meno alla mafia, e la rivoluzione di cui la Sicilia ha bisogno è una sola: che l'unico potere sia dello stato, sia effettivo e riconosciuto. Siamo d'estate, ma il generale non è venuto a fare il turista e inizia indagini complete in tutti i campi: dai suoi collaboratori, al mondo degli affari, alle banche, ecc. Ha contatti con tutti i ceti sociali, con l'umile gente del popolo, con studenti e operai. Trova il tempo anche di celebrare il matrimonio con Emanuela. Avrà così una moglie e una casa a Palermo. Nel frattempo la mafia reagisce. Il gen. Dalla Chiesa è forte, ma deve capire che noi siamo più forti. I delitti di stampo mafioso si moltiplicano nei modi più efferati, mentre sullo sfondo appare squallido il traffico di eroina. Interviene la Chiesa siciliana con il card. Pappalardo che si incontra con il gen. Dalla Chiesa e gli promette non solo preghiere, ma interventi decisi. Difatti dai pulpiti delle chiese i sacerdoti affermano a chiara voce: chi è mafioso non è cristiano. Intanto gli assassinati e gli scomparsi crescono sempre in modo impressionante. Emanuela è scossa e angosciata. Dice al marito: ti hanno messo qui come un parafulmine, se non riesci tu, non riuscirà nessuno... ma come potrà riuscire anche un generale Dalla Chiesa, se il governo lo lascia solo, senza i mezzi adeguati, se non capisce che la mafia non è un fenomeno solo siciliano, ma nazionale e internazionale? In questi termini Dalla Chiesa parla col giornalista Bocca. Egli conosce i capi mafiosi, gente che da 30 anni domina in Sicilia, ma dove sono le prove per arrestarli? Dove sono i pieni poteri? Eppure, dice Dalla Chiesa: contro le brigate rosse sono andato fino in fondo e contro la mafia farò lo stesso. Intanto con un'imprudenza unica che è anche follia, senza alcuna precauzione e scorta, si serve della macchina di Emanuela, e della moglie come autista, per trasferirsi dalla prefettura a casa. Il bersaglio è fin troppo facile per la mafia. Scatta l'agguato e il 3 settembre 1982 il generale con la giovane moglie cadono assassinati. Cento giorni nei quali per la mafia è successo nulla di nulla, gli omicidi si sono moltiplicati, ma forse, come dice il canto finale, è nata la speranza.

Durante l'occupazione tedesca di Roma, ad Arcovazzi, un graduato delle brigate nere, zelante ed ambizioso, viene affidato il compito di catturare il professor Bonafé, un eminente filosofo antifascista, per farne un forzato propagandista della pericolante repubblica sociale. Ma se l'arresto del mitissimo professor Bonafé è un'impresa facile, il viaggio di ritorno a Roma dal natale paesino abruzzese dov'egli s'era rifugiato presenta non poche difficoltà. Attraverso mille peripezie, pericoli e strani incontri, il fascista e l'antifascista si perdono e si ritrovano. Insieme, giungono alla periferia della capitale. E' il 4 giugno del 1944. Arcovazzi, indossata una divisa da federale trovata per caso alle porte della città ed ignaro del fatto che Roma è stata occupata dagli Alleati, avanza tranquillo per la strada, ma è subito afferrato e malmenato dalla folla. A salvarlo è il professor Bonafé, il quale gli offre la propria giacca di borghese, quasi a suggellare l'amicizia, inconsueta e rara, che le vicissitudini sopportate insieme hanno fatto nascere fra due uomini tanto diversi per convinzioni, temperamento ed educazione.

During the German occupation of Rome, in Arcovazzi, a graduate of the black brigades, zealous and ambitious, is entrusted with the task of capturing Professor Bonafé, an eminent anti-fascist philosopher, to make him a forged propagandist of the pernicious social republic. Il punto di partenza è l'Altra Campagna, un'iniziativa civile e pacifica partita all'inizio del 2006 e conclusa il 2 dicembre dello stesso anno, attraverso la quale il movimento zapatista esce dal Chiapas alla ricerca della propria base popolare: gli operai, gli insegnanti, gli studenti, gli anziani, le donne e i bambini che – come tutti gli indigeni del Messico - non si sentono rappresentati dai partiti politici, siano essi di destra o di sinistra.

Centrale è il messaggio del Subcomandante Marcos, che incita al rovesciamento dell'assioma su cui si basa la politica "che dall'alto si accorda e dall'alto decide", puntando invece su un nuovo modo di fare politica: la politica dell'ascolto, disposta ad esplorare nuove strade, che non siano quelle tradizionali avvinghiate nell'abbraccio mortale dei mezzi di comunicazione. Una politica che parte dal basso e che raccoglie le istanze della gente "umile e semplice".

Nel film sono documentate, oltre all'Altra Campagna zapatista e alle elezioni presidenziali, anche le repressioni di Atenco e Oaxaca, dove sono stati uccisi dei bambini e molti civili e dove decine di donne sono state stuprate da agenti federali (viene raccolta la testimonianza di una ragazza che descrive le violenze subite).

Il film contiene le immagini, girate in soggettiva, della morte del reporter statunitense Bradley Roland Will, ammazzato ad Oaxaca da paramilitari del governo federale. Vi sono inoltre le testimonianze dello scrittore Paco Ignacio Taibo II, che con Marcos ha scritto un libro giallo dal titolo "Morti scomodi" e quella di Carlos Montemayor, scrittore e antropologo che ha conosciuto e più volte intervistato il Subcomandante.

Tra le voci dell'Altro Messico anche un lungo intervento di Fausto Bertinotti, appena eletto presidente della Camera (intervistato nel giugno del 2006), che ricorda il suo incontro con Marcos nel 1997 e parla del senso dell'Altra Campagna e della lotta zapatista, anticipatrice di tutti i movimenti di critica alla globalizzazione.

The film contains images, shot in the subjective, of the death of US reporter Bradley Roland Will, who was killed in Oaxaca by paramilitaries of the federal government. Introduzione:

Prison School (???? Purizun Suk?ru?, lett. "Scuola carceraria&quot

è un manga scritto e disegnato da Akira Hiramoto, serializzato sul Young Magazine di K?dansha dal 7 febbraio 2011. Un adattamento anime, prodotto dalla J.C.Staff, è stato trasmesso in Giappone tra il 10 luglio e il 25 settembre 2015.
Prison school non è certo un'opera impegnativa ma una semplice commedia demenziale che si basa essenzialmente su elementi ecchi e violenza gratuita, su sangue e sbavamenti vari. Non l'ideale, dunque per chi non tollera queste cose; per gli altri, invece, potrebbe costituire una gradita sorpresa
Non il miglior anime dell’anno, ma sicuramente uno che si lascia guardare, con un buon ritmo e privo di tempi morti, che ovviamente spicca più per la sua inclinazione sessuale che non per i contenuti profondi, ma che fa comunque un ottimo lavoro grazie specialmente alla riuscita caratterizzazione di tutti i personaggi.Arrivera' in Italia grazie alla Dynit.

Trama:

In un’accademia femminile giapponese, la Hachimitsu, viene deciso di ammettere anche studenti maschi, per la prima volta in assoluto. Qui arriveranno i 5 protagonisti dell’anime: Kiyoshi, Gakuto, Shingo, Joe e Andrè, che subito avranno la bella pensata di tentare di spiare di notte le ragazze nude mentre fanno la doccia. Inevitabilmente verranno clamorosamente beccati e sbattuti in una prigione, costruita nel bel mezzo del giardino scolastico dall’associazione studentesca segreta...

Giorgio Perlasca, un commerciante di carni di Padova, è un fascista convinto, tanto da lasciare la casa e il lavoro per combattere nell'esercito di Francisco Franco durante la guerra civile spagnola. L'armistizio di Cassibile lo sorprende in Ungheria, dove assiste sconvolto alle persecuzioni ai danni degli ebrei. Giorgio ha un attestato firmato dal generale Franco che gli potrebbe valere la fuga in Italia dove sua moglie lo sta aspettando, ma decide di non usarlo per rimanere a Budapest, con l'intenzione di strappare alla morte quanti più ebrei possibile. Si presenta con il suo documento all'ambasciata spagnola e riesce a farsi passare dai nazisti per console spagnolo, rischiando la vita. Protetto dall'alta carica inganna i tedeschi, evita l'incendio del ghetto di Budapest e strappa ai campi di concentramento un gran numero di ebrei (un po' più di 5000). Dopo due anni Giorgio ritorna in Italia, senza raccontare a nessuno ciò che ha fatto. La sua storia viene alla luce nel 1988 quando due delle donne ungheresi che aveva salvato lo rintracciano a Padova.

Giorgio Perlasca, a meat trader in Padua, is a fascist believer, so much to leave the house and work to fight in Francisco Franco's army during the Spanish Civil War. Cassibile's armistice surprises him in Hungary, where he assists in shocking persecution against the Jews. Giorgio has a certificate signed by General Franco that he might be due to the escape in Italy where his wife is waiting for him, but decides not to use him to stay in Budapest, with the intention of snatching as many Jews as possible. She presents with her document to the Spanish embassy and succeeds in passing through the Nazis for Spanish Consul, risking her life. Protected by high charge deceives the Germans, avoids the fire of the Budapest ghetto and tear a large number of Jews (a little over 5000) into the concentration camps. After two years Giorgio returns to Italy without telling anyone what he did. His story comes to light in 1988 when two of the Hungarian women who saved him traced him to Padua.
