E' la storia di un cerbiatto, di nome Bambi, dalla nascita fino alla maturità. Bambi viene festeggiato dagli altri animali, che lo chiamano il principino, fin dalla nascita. Bambi gode della particolare amicizia del Tamburino, un leprotto svelto e vivace, che lo assiste nei suoi primi passi e che, insieme alla madre del cerbiatto, lo inizia a tutti i segreti della foresta e del prato. Bambi impara a conoscere ed a superare i pericoli e le difficoltà che intralciano la vita degli animali, finché un giorno ha il dolore di perdere la madre, uccisa dai cacciatori. A soccorrerlo sono il consiglio e l'aiuto del signore della foresta, un magnifico cervo avanzato negli anni e pieno di saggezza e di autorità, e l'amore per Faline, una giovane cerbiatta conosciuta mentre lui vagava per i prati sotto la guida della madre.
