Cominciamo con il dire che la qualità complessiva della musica rende l'album un must per gli appassionati di Basie e Big Band in generale.
Trattasi di una performance live in studio di Basie.
On the Road ci presenta un "Conte" in grande forma e molto ispirato, grandi assoli e grandi improvvisazioni.
Le note sono insolite, grandi gli effetti audio e forti anche gli assoli degli altri strumentisti.
Un ascolto facile e molto apprezzato.
