Trama:
Nancy Botwin è una madre che vive ad Agrestic, una periferia della California. Il marito muore improvvisamente lasciandola senza un guadagno e con due figli a carico, Silas e Shane. Per mantenere il tenore di vita, la donna comincia a spacciare cannabis nel quartiere e resta sorpresa per la risposta di clientela nella ricca area residenziale, in cui vivono fra gli altri il suo avvocato Dean Hodes ed il suo ragioniere omofobico Doug Wilson. La moglie di Dean, Celia Hodes, capo dell'associazione genitori-insegnanti della scuola locale, è un personaggio controverso che ha a che fare con relazioni extraconiugali e una figlia problematica.
Le frequenti scene di sesso, gli argomenti trattati e l'uso frequente di un linguaggio volgare la rendono adatto ad un pubblico adulto.
