The crew of a naval destroyer is forced to confront the reality of a new existence when a pandemic kills off most of the earth's population.

A seguito di una pandemia globale che ha quasi sterminato la razza umana, l'equipaggio del cacciatorpediniere USS Nathan James, della Marina degli Stati Uniti, cercherà di trovare le cause del virus e una possibile cura. A capo dell’equipaggio troviamo il comandante Tom Chandler (Eric Dane), aiutato dal suo secondo in comando Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) e dalla biologa Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra), la quale è riuscita a trovare il ceppo primordiale del virus e sviluppare una cura alla fine della prima stagione.
Facciamo un salto in avanti di un bel po ‘di tempo. La quarta stagione si è conclusa nel migliore dei modi.
Il capitano Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) è tornato sulla Nathan James ed ha aiutato Slattery e gli altri a salvare il mondo dall’ennesima minaccia. La Nathan James è pronta alla sua prossima avventura.
Dalla quinta stagione la Nathan James non è più sola a solcare i mari. Vediamo infatti Kara (Marissa Neitling) comunicare felicemente via radio che lei e il resto della crew sono felici di non essere più i soli. A risponderle, tra gli altri, c’è anche Andrea (Fay Masterson). Vediamo anche Tom Chandler insegnare a una nuova generazione cosa ha rappresentato per il mondo il virus prima e la carestia poi. Un cyber attacco mette in ginocchio gli States, riportando Tom Chandler nuovamente al timone della missione per salvare il mondo. I responsabili sono, stavolta, i messicani.

"The Last Ship" è una serie televisiva statunitense del 2014 creata da Hank Steinberg e Steven Kane e prodotta, tra gli altri, da Michael Bay. La serie si basa sull'omonimo romanzo del 1988 di William Brinkley.
Nel cast troviamo anche: Charles Parnell (Comandante Hugh Jefer), Travis Van Winkle (Tenente Danny Green), Bridget Regan (Sasha, una vecchia conoscenza di Tom Chandler) e Christina Elmoren (Tenente Alisha Granders). Nella quinta stagione diventano fissi anche Emerson Brooks nel ruolo del Comandante Joseph Meylan e Jodie Turner-Smith che interpreta Azima Kandie.

Scritta da Rowan Joffe e con l'eccezionale Tim Roth di nuovo alla guida di un cast di tutto rispetto (Christina Hendricks, Genevieve O'Reilly, Abigail Lawrie, Ian Puleston-Davies, John Lynch, Anamaria Marinca, Janessa Grant), la seconda stagione di Tin Star riparte esattamente dal punto in cui è finita la prima, ma ovviamente niente è più come prima. Se prima tutto girava attorno alal vendetta, ora (quasi) tutto girerà attorno al suo opposto: il perdono.

Dopo aver distrutto tutto ciò che ama, Jack ora deve trovare il modo per riavvicinarsi alla moglie Angela e a sua figlia Anna. Per espiare i suoi peccati e per tentare di ricostruire la sua famiglia, o quantomeno ciò resta della sua famiglia, dovrà fare tutto quanto in suo potere. Ma non sarà facile. Il perdono e l'assoluzione non lo sono mai.

Nel cuore delle Montagne Rocciose, però, non ci sono solo gli abitanti della (non troppo) ridente Little Big Bear. Non troppo distante da lì, a Prairie Field, c'è una comunità di persone che vivono in modo modesto secondo la parola del Signore: gli Ammoniti. Dietro la facciata di pacifica comunità della prateria, si nasconde però una vera e propria setta. A guidare gli Ammoniti sono un concilio di anziani e il pastore Johan Nickel.

Distrutta e piena di rancore per la morte del fratellino e per la morte di Whitey, Anna trova rifugio proprio presso di loro. Nello specifico presso i Nickel. C'è però un fatto curioso: proprio come i Worth, anche i Nickel sono arrivati relativamente da poco in quella zona sperduta e lontana dal resto del mondo. Il giovane Uhtred di Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon), rimasto orfano a causa delle razzie dei vichinghi, viene rapito dagli assassini del padre che vedono in lui le potenzialità di un vero guerriero danese e lo crescono come uno di loro.
Ormai adulto, Ulthred è schiavo delle sue doppie origini in un mondo in preda al caos e dove la guerra non è mai finita. Questo contrasto con il suo vecchio mondo sarà massimo proprio quando, per vari motivi, tornerà e cercherà di stabilire nuovi legami con la sua vecchia gente. Uthred, che nella seconda stagione è diventato un fiero condottiero, ben lontano dal ribelle della prima stagione, intraprende un lungo viaggio verso Nord per vendicare la morte del padre e riconquistare le sue terre...

Nella terza stagione ci sarà molto altro dolore per Uhtred. Re Alfred (David Dawson) ormai è vecchio e malato, incapace di respingere tutti gli assalti dei vichinghi e ossessionato dall’idea di convertire il mondo alla fede cristiana.
Uthred si dedicherà alla conquista della sua “casa” natia, Bebbanburg, la fortezza che gli spetta di diritto e che suo zio possiede. Uhtred combatterà quindi per se stesso e per il suo destino, il destino di un guerriero nato.

TRAMA
Una volta che i medici sono tornati al lavoro dopo la celebrazione del matrimonio, Meredith cerca di concentrarsi nonostante le distrazioni dovute a frequenti sogni erotici su Andrew. Dopo aver scoperto l'attuale situazione di Owen e Amelia, Teddy decide di non volere il posto di capo ad interim, costringendo così la Bailey a pensare ad altri candidati. Prima di andarsene Teddy però capisce di aver bisogno che Maggie la visiti, in quanto sospetta di avere un coagulo nella vena femorale e teme una possibile embolia polmonare. Parlando della sua situazione, Teddy rivela a Maggie di essere incinta di Owen. I nuovi dottori di ortopedia, Dr Atticus Lincoln, detto "Link", e Nico Kim, arrivano quando un ciclista viene investito e rimane incastrato nella sua bicicletta. L'ossessione di Jo per il lavoro non l'abbandona nemmeno durante la luna di miele con Alex e la ragazza ha un'idea che potrebbe cambiare il futuro della medicina. Mentre Jackson combatte con il dilemma dell'esistenza di Dio dopo essere sopravvissuto a un'esperienza vicina alla morte, Amelia rivela ad Owen di provare ancora dei sentimenti per lui.

This stylish and beautifully sung and acted 2006 performance of Don Giovanni from the Zurich Opera House should be of strong interest to anyone who loves the opera. The production, directed by Sven-Eric Bechtolf with costumes by Marianne Glittenberg and particularly striking sets by Rolf Glittenberg, is visually and dramatically dazzling. The timeframe is contemporary, but the clever trompe l'oeil set suggests the infinitely receding stage depth that flourished in 18th century scenic design. Don Giovanni's palace is a cosmopolitan playboy's penthouse, and the costumes clearly define the social standing of the characters in modern terms. It would be hard to imagine a Don Giovanni more suave, seductive, and confident than Simon Keenlyside; he's a terrific actor and he perfectly conveys the casual arrogance and entitlement that can attend someone well aware of his own attractiveness. His singing is every bit as fine as his acting; his tone is large and warm, his lines soar lyrically, and he has the effortless-sounding agility necessary for the rapid-fire recitative and arias like "Fin ch'han dal vino." The entire cast is vocally superb, if not consistently as dramatically assured as Keenlyside. The other singers whose acting is on a par with his are Martina Jankov‡ as Zerlina and Malin Hartelius as Donna Elvira, who are riveting whenever they are on-stage, and whose singing is gorgeous. Eva Mei as Donna Anna and Piotr Beczala as Don Ottavio are vocal standouts and their lack of keener dramatic engagement may be partly the fault of the director, who seems at a loss to give them anything interesting to do. Anton Scharinger as Leporello and Reinhard Mayr as Masetto are very fine, but they don't convey the dramatic weight or presence to make the necessary impact. Franz Welser-Mˆst leads Orchester der Oper Z¸rich and Chor des Opernhauses Z¸rich in a thoroughly polished and lively account of the score, and his pacing is fully effective. The sound of the DVD is full, detailed, and natural. Highly recommended.
