I mutanti della Marvel sono tornati! Dopo gli eventi dell'ultimo episodio nuovi cataclismatici avvenimenti sembrano pronti a colpire il Gruppo Clandestino guidato da Thunderbird. La guerra si avvicina e tu da che parte di schiererai?

Dopo l'abbandono di Andy e Polaris il Gruppo Clandestino ha subito un duro colpo mentre il Club Infernale sembra sempre più potente e vicino allo scopo di conquistare il mondo e l'intera razza umana. Nonostante tutto però Thunderbird e gli altri sono pronti a non darla vinta alle sorelle Frost e a Reeva Payge la mefistofelica leader dell'Hellfire Club. Ma non solo una guerra civile, a complicare le cose ci pensa anche la gravidanza di Polaris, il cui bambino sembra già molto potente e il ritorno dei poteri di Reed, soppressi dal padre e che ora sembrano essere riaffiorati, una vera bomba ad orologeria pronta ad esplodere.

Insomma, The Gifted sta tornando con le sue puntate adrenaliniche e con tutto il potere dei mutanti Marvel. Nuovi incredibili episodi che ci porteranno al centro della guerra tra le le due fazioni del gruppo clandestino e dell'Hellfire Club. La serie vedrà il ritorno delle vecchie conoscenze della prima stagione: Blink, Polaris, Thunderbird, le sorelle Frost, Eclipse e la famiglia Strucker senza contare i nuovi personaggi tra cui spicca, già dal trailer, il villain interpretata dalla bellissima Grace Byers, la mutante Reeva Payge in grado di generare onde ultrasoniche con le corde vocali.

L'ufficiale comandante della nave stellare Enterprise è il capitano James T. Kirk (William Shatner), coadiuvato al comando dall'ufficiale scientifico Spock (interpretato da Leonard Nimoy), un extraterrestre figlio di una terrestre e di un abitante del pianeta Vulcano, e dall'ufficiale medico capo, il dottor Leonard McCoy detto Bones (DeForest Kelley). Questi tre personaggi, uniti da un forte legame di rispetto e amicizia, sono i personaggi fondamentali della serie. Il loro è un rapporto costantemente conflittuale, soprattutto quello tra Spock e McCoy, caratterizzato da continue schermaglie verbali, ma è in realtà improntato a un forte equilibrio: la fredda logica vulcaniana del signor Spock e l'opposta emotività del burbero dott. McCoy vengono mediate dall'autorevolezza del capitano Kirk, che appare il capo ideale: coraggioso, audace, generoso e, a volte, un po' impulsivo. Kirk, Spock e McCoy sono personaggi di culto per milioni di appassionati e sono entrati ormai a far parte della cultura americana e, più in generale, occidentale.

Gli altri personaggi del cast costituiscono un adeguato contorno ai tre principali: il tenente Nyota Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) è l'ufficiale addetta alle comunicazioni, il tenente comandante Montgomery Scott (James Doohan) è il capo ingegnere, il tenente Hikaru Sulu (George Takei) è il timoniere; il guardiamarina Pavel Andreivich Chekov (Walter Koenig, nell'originale con un marcato accento russo) è il navigatore. L'assortimento multietnico e multiculturale, assolutamente inedito per l'epoca, fu appositamente voluto da Roddenberry.

La serie non riscosse subito un grande successo di pubblico: solo in seguito, anche grazie alla passione dei fan, divenne un "cult" e un fenomeno di costume, oggetto (assieme alle serie successive) del fandom più esteso a livello mondiale che si conosca.

Star Trek??'?s ratings continued to decline during the second season. Although Shatner expected the show to end after two seasons and began to prepare for other projects, NBC nonetheless may have never seriously considered cancelling the show. As early as January 1968, the Associated Press reported that Star Trek??'?s chances for renewal for a third season were "excellent". The show had better ratings for NBC than ABC's competing Hondo, and the competing CBS programs (#3 Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. and the first half-hour of the #12 CBS Friday Night Movie) were in the top 15 in the Nielsen ratings. Again, demographics helped Star Trek survive. Contrary to popular belief among its fans, the show did not have a larger audience of young viewers than its competition while on NBC. The network's research did, however, indicate that Star Trek had a "quality audience" including "upper-income, better-educated males", and other NBC shows had lower overall ratings. The show was unusual in its serious discussion of contemporary societal issues in a futuristic context, unlike Lost in Space which was more "campy" in nature.

The enthusiasm of Star Trek??'?s viewers surprised NBC. The network had already received 29,000 fan letters for the show during its first season, more than for any other except The Monkees. When rumors spread in late 1967 that Star Trek was at risk of cancellation, Roddenberry secretly began and funded an effort by Bjo Trimble, her husband John and other fans to persuade tens of thousands of viewers to write letters of support to save the program. Using the 4,000 names on a mailing list for a science-fiction convention, the Trimbles asked fans to write to NBC and ask ten others to also do so. NBC received almost 116,000 letters for the show between December 1967 and March 1968, including more than 52,000 in February alone; according to an NBC executive, the network received more than one million pieces of mail but only disclosed the 116,000 figure. Newspaper columnists encouraged readers to write letters to help save what one called "the best science fiction show on the air". More than 200 Caltech students marched to NBC's Burbank, California studio to support Star Trek in January 1968, carrying signs such as "Draft Spock" and "Vulcan Power". Berkeley and MIT students organized similar protests in San Francisco and New York.

Hard to imagine now, but at one time iQ was a boon for the prog-starved fan in the early 1980s. 1983 was an exciting time for progressive rock music. England was experiencing a renaissance in creativity after a dearth in exciting new music killed off by disco, punk, and synth-pop. Heavily inspired by the early works of Genesis, bands like Marillion, Pendragon, Pallas, Twelfth Night, Haze, and iQ were blazing a new trail. Decidedly noncommercial for the day, these bands were raising the spirit of Gabriel-era Genesis from the dead. Best of all, it was an updated sound with modern equipment, cleaner tones, and a more aggressive rock approach (influenced by the punk movement no doubt) combined with the challenging compositional style of albums like Foxtrot and Trick of the Tail.

It was during this period that I personally became involved with the progressive rock scene. I remember a review of Twelfth Night showing up in the metal magazine Kerrang claiming "Bring out the mini-moogs boys, the progressives are back!" And they were, even if it was just for a short period, in its original form anyway. Of all of the bands from that era, iQ were quite possibly the most accomplished.

Tales From the Lush Attic was iQ's debut released on a very small private label and released in minute quantities. The album, however, had gained the attention of the heavy metal media (of all people) and quickly sold out to an audience yearning for something a little different, thus leading to a much larger repress. iQ's reputation had begun. Opening with the 21-minute "The Last Human Gateway", iQ laid down the gauntlet. No group in their right mind did side long epics in 1983, lest they be panned by the lemming-like music press as the worst album since the "ghastly" Tales From Topographic Oceans! This track had all the right ingredients: Organ, mellotron, digital synths, crazy rhythms, Hackett-esque guitar, and possibly best of all, a very talented and dramatic singer in Peter Nicholls. He even wore face paint. My God, how très gauche 1970s! What no self-respecting record exec would ever admit is that there is an audience for this style and there always will be, just like there is for glam metal and country. C'est la vie. Continuing on, "Awake and Nervous" is a more commercial sounding track in case any reviewer had made it through the opener. This is followed by the hilariously titled "My Baby Treats Me Right 'Cos I'm the Hard Lovin' Man All Night Long" which is, appropriately, a classical solo piano piece. The closer, "The Enemy Smacks" is iQ's finest moment. A combination of hard rock and symphonic prog which happens to contain their most complex metronomic moments. Very powerful, and just the right punch to score with younger fans.

There was heavy anticipation for iQ's second album and they delivered in grand fashion. No sophomore slump on The Wake. No doubt their heavier moments from the debut were better received by a live audience and iQ began to move away from some of the subtle brilliance of Tales ... to more anthemic rock structures. The title track itself is proof that iQ could pack a wallop and still be interesting. The analog keyboards were almost completely tossed for modern, cutting edge synthesizers and samplers. While in today's world old vintage equipment is highly revered, the 1984 mindset was anxious to ditch the heavy, clumsy hardware for more sleek, easy to tote, and cleaner sounding instruments. Even for dyed-in-the-wool hardcore mellotron addicts, The Wake is not to be missed. "Widow's Peak" is iQ in all its glory. From powerful head banging anthems to guitar loops meshed with anguished vocals, the track delivers on a number of fronts. The album was a move forward to a larger audience while not compromising the creativity. iQ were on the tightrope of accessible progressive music, balancing perfectly here; but a rope that they were to fall off shortly thereafter.

With fellow English progressive band Marillion enjoying major label success on EMI, other labels were interested in signing the next "big thing." Polygram took a chance on iQ. This was to be the progressive community's big move into the mainstream. Their underground, uncompromising leaders iQ were to be the vanguard for a new sound! There would be a renaissance like ELP, Genesis, Yes, and Pink Floyd of yesteryear! "Wide open in the end zone, the throw is there, and ... ?" They dropped the ball. Nonzamo was a garden variety, typical mid-80's, mid-tempo, radio-friendly rock affair. What a huge disappointment. But the truth is, all the "prog" bands of the early 80's had moved in this direction. Arena rock bands such as Europe and Night Ranger were drawing enormous crowds and selling albums at a sizzling pace. Marillion, Pendragon, and IQ were only 10 or 15 too many complicated meters from joining this money tree as well. Why not? "Our fans will be there and our songwriting will be better". It's hard to blame a band for thinking this way, especially with a major marketing machine behind you. And so iQ went down this sordid path only to be abandoned by their hard core faithful. Trouble is they didn't pick up the fickle, don't-care-what-I-listen-to-as-long-as-it's-loud record buyer. Bottom line is this kind of music just isn't iQ's strength and it probably didn't help that original vocalist/leader Peter Nicholls had bolted not long before recording. iQ even received another chance to mend their ways. Are You Sitting Comfortably? was perhaps even worse. They were bound and determined to be a commercial smash! And, in the end, this sad chapter ends with egg on their faces.

By 1993 progressive rock really had found its roots again, and with bands like Anglagard and Anekdoten blowing everyone away with their modern take on 1972, a band like iQ didn't seem to have an audience, especially after such a long silence. The logical choice would've been for them to join what was now known as "Neo Prog," which had quite a large niche audience. Bands such as Marillion and Pendragon were enjoying a cult-like status and they had many emulators. Peter Nicholls was back, but could iQ regain their fans? Ever was the result. This is the album they should've done for Polygram! Picking up right where The Wake leaves off, iQ climbed back on the tightrope. There are plenty of quirks and complicated moves to please the more discerning listener while still delivering accessible melodies for the more commercial oriented. In fact, the two-part "Fading Senses" is as good a track as iQ has ever recorded. A many segmented piece with some stunning atmospheric keyboard work and driving guitar. The two-CD follow-up Subterranea, by contrast, is an exercise in overindulgence. In keeping with the Genesis theme, this would equate to iQ's version of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. As with that work, this album focuses too much on lyrical content while the instrumentation and arrangements take a back seat. Still it's far better than their commercial period and there is plenty to admire overall.

iQ has released many live albums, outtakes, demos, and other such non-studio recordings. Most of these I haven't heard so I really shouldn't comment. There's also a new album, The Seventh House, which I'll include as soon as I hear it.

GEP are set to release the 2013 remix of Tales from the Lush Attic on the 23rd of January 2013 in both a double disc CD/DVD format and on vinyl.Producer Mike Holmes:When we did the 25th anniversary edition of The Wake we took the finished stereo mix and re-mastered it.It made a big difference to the overall sound,but we weren't able to give it a complete remix because the multi track tapes had been lost in the mists of time.However with Tales we could go right back to the beginning,using the original 24 track tapes to build the mix from scratch.It was great to finally give this album the mix it deserved.I've spent years avoiding the studio release of Tales,just because I knew it could be so much better.It is now.The 30th anniversary special edition of Tales,is a double disc hard back 32 page book with lots of extras,including the complete remix of the album and a DVD featuring live video footage of material from Tales,along with a host of MP3 files,original mixes,audio commentary and previously unreleased writing/rehearsal/demo material.

.: Trama :.

Suor Angela, ex carcerata che ha cambiato completamente vita, dimora nel Convento degli Angeli di Modena, che rischia di chiudere per mancanza di vocazioni. Decide allora di trasformare il convento in un convitto universitario, con tanto di bar. Questa nuova situazione porta nuova linfa al convento, che diventa il punto d'incontro della più varia umanità. Suor Angela si ritrova in pratica a far da madre a tre giovani ragazze, Giulia, Margherita e Azzurra, dai caratteri (e dai problemi) completamente opposti. A questo si aggiunge il fatto che Suor Angela sfrutta il suo passato "criminale" per mettere sempre il naso nelle indagini dell'ispettore Marco Ferrari, il quale in passato ha avuto una storia con Giulia, ed è anche inconsapevolmente legato alla vecchia vita di Suor Angela.

LA STORIA
Dopo il matrimonio di Giulia e Marco nel finale di prima serie (Serena Rossi e Massimo Poggio) è tempo di nuovi incontri per Suor Angela (Elena Sofia Ricci). Il convento è diventato una famiglia allargata e apre le porte a chi si trova davanti a un bivio importante della propria vita. Suor Angela non fa miracoli ma è sempre presente quando c’è bisogno di ascoltare e non ha mai dimenticato il suo passato difficile, prima di vestire il velo.

Il primo è Guido Corsi (Lino Guanciale), un avvocato che ha abbandonato la professione in seguito ad un grave errore giudiziario ed è in crisi anche nella vita privata perché ha rotto un matrimonio che sembrava perfetto.
Per far carriera Guido ha accettato di fare da tutor nella nuova residenza universitaria del convento ma deve fare i conti col carattere impetuoso di Suor Angela che cercherà di scuoterlo dal suo torpore. Uno scossone glielo darà anche Davide (Cesare Kristian Favoino), un bambino che è stato parte in causa nel suo divorzio e ora è rimasto orfano. L'ex moglie glielo ha affidato prima di morire, ora Guido dovrà prendere una decisione che riapre una ferita mai rimarginata e potrebbe avere conseguenze imprevedibili.

A complicare la vita di Guido c’è l’uragano Azzurra (Francesca Chillemi). Come nella prima serie è una ragazza sopra le righe, capricciosa, volubile ed è ancora in cerca dell’uomo ideale... ma intanto deve mantenersi facendo la tata a Davide, un bambino cresciuto troppo in fretta. Azzurra è un concentrato di disordine, ignoranza e caparbietà. Guido, invece, è razionale, rigido, moralista. Non potrebbero essere più distanti. In realtà, grazie a Davide, potrebbero scoprire di avere in comune molto più di quanto pensino.

Fra le new entries c'è anche Nina (Laura Glavan, "Don Matteo 8&#34

, giovane avvocato cinico e perfezionista. Quand’era piccola ha visto la sua famiglia rovinata da un affarista senza scrupoli. Nina si è fatta l’idea di poter contare solo su se stessa e ha deciso di fare l'avvocato per riscattare l'ingiustizia subita, anche se non lo riconoscerebbe mai perché significherebbe ammettere di soffrire ancora.

E poi c'è Chiara (Rosa Diletta Rossi), la figlia del rettore dell’università, la più realizzata delle ragazze di suor Angela. Lavora come praticante nello stesso studio di Nina, che la vede come una raccomandata e cerca ogni pretesto per metterla in difficoltà ma dovrà presto rendersi conto che Chiara è una ragazza sveglia e determinata. La ragazza è fidanzata con Riccardo (Alessandro Borghi), un rapporto che sembra sereno ma dovrà superare molti ostacoli fino al momento in cui qualcosa cambia nell’animo di Chiara. Durante uno dei casi di cui si occupa verrà a contatto con una storia di dolore e speranza. E’ l’inizio di un percorso che la porterà a desiderare qualcosa di diverso rispetto al futuro immaginato con Riccardo. Sarà suor Angela ad aiutarla ad affrontare una scelta impegnativa che potrebbe cambiare per sempre la sua vita.

Nel convento è rimasta anche Margherita (Miriam Dalmazio), che da anatomopatologa cambia specializzazione: dovrà passare un anno in corsia a contatto con malati veri come l’atleta Emilio (Ludovico Fremont), sotto gli occhi vigili del dott. Limbiati (Luca Capuano), un fascinoso medico che scopriremo nascondere un segreto.

E soprattutto c’è la nuova missione di suor Angela: gestire una vera e propria residenza per studenti ora aperta anche ai maschi, nonostante i continui rimbrotti della Madre superiora (Valeria Fabrizi).

In ogni puntata un problema legato a uno degli ospiti diventa il tema centrale. La collaborazione tra la razionalità di Guido e l’intuito della nostra suora si dimostrerà preziosa per aiutare i ragazzi a districarsi in quella complicata sfida che è crescere e diventare adulti.

Pietrasecca, paese immaginario della Sicilia. Due cugini, Franco e Ciccio Scontentezza, rivali da sempre a causa di dissapori personali,
vengono incaricati dietro un lauto compenso di offrire il proprio terreno e la loro disponibilità per la coltivazione di alcune misteriose piante.

L'imprenditore che commissiona l'incarico, un certo Pierre, è un losco trafficante di stupefacenti; approfittando dell'ingenuità e dell'ignoranza
dei due, intende servirsi di loro per ottenere piantine di Marijuana per il suo traffico illecito. Inoltre, Pierre intima ai due cugini di avvertirlo,
tramite telegramma, quando le suddette piante saranno in fiore.

I due cugini, inesperti e credendo nella buona fede, eseguono l'incarico e vedendole crescere, i due (come i restanti abitanti del paese) credono
si tratti di un tipo di verdura da insalata, simile alla rucola.

Franco & Ciccio, attratti dalla possibilità di un guadagno imminente della vendita, si derubano reciprocamente delle piante nottetempo, fino a
sradicarle tutte. L'equivoco e l'improvvisa popolarità della pianta è data dal precedente furto di alcune piante da parte di un conoscente dei due
e degli effetti allucinogeni che hanno, come conseguenza, aumentato inconsapevolmente il desiderio sessuale dell'uomo, fino a fargli perdere la
lucidità. Nel giro di breve tempo, la voce finisce per diffondersi a tutta la popolazione fino ad attirare l'attenzione del locale maresciallo dei
carabinieri e di un investigatore della sezione narcotici, tale Joe Ragusa. Il maresciallo spiega all'investigatore che i due cugini sono degli
ingenui, infatti a causa della similitudine del nome "Maria Giovanna" con il nome della pianta allucinogena, Franco e Ciccio si convincono che ci
sia stato un malinteso con una donna che abbia quel nome.

Joe Ragusa, dopo aver convocato i due coltivatori e non riuscendo a ottenere nulla dall'interrogatorio...
