10 anni dopo la morte di Gesù gli apostoli stanno vivendo un momento di difficoltà ma trovano in Maria sua madre, ormai prossima alla morte, una figura in grado di rincuorarli e spingerli a proseguire l'opera iniziata dal Figlio.
L'ultima presenza della Madonna nel Nuovo Testamento si trova negli Atti degli Apostoli in cui si legge: "Tutti questi erano assidui e concordi nella preghiera insieme con alcune donne e con Maria, la madre di Gesù e con i fratelli di lui" (Atti 1,14). Tralasciando la controversa definizione di 'fratelli', Andrew Hyatt affronta per primo sullo schermo la figura della Madre di Cristo immaginandone la vita dopo la morte e resurrezione del figlio. Lo fa focalizzando la sua azione come opera di sostegno all'azione di un Pietro non dubbioso ma oppresso da ciò che sta accadendo nella Chiesa nascente. Maria viene cioè letta, come è lei stessa a dire, come colei il cui cuore ha battuto all'unisono per nove mesi con quello del Messia e, seppure in forma diversa, continua a farlo. La comunità che Hyatt ci presenta sta soffrendo la crisi di un movimento in crescita in cui si preferisce spaccare il capello in quattro sul piano teo-filosofico che non rifarsi al Cristo che ha calpestato la polvere delle strade della nostra Terra. "Io non sono un filosofo" dice Pietro. Allora è Maria, seppur sempre più vicina a ricongiungersi al Figlio, che, ripercorrendo con le parole quanto lei ed altri dei presenti hanno vissuto, riporta tutti alla concretezza del messaggio che è ancora fondamentalmente orale e che può ancora passare attraverso le voci e i gesti di chi lo ha incontrato e ne ha condiviso il cammino. Hyatt, anche se si lascia andare a qualche flashback un po' lezioso, ha un buon controllo della materia e sa offrire, attraverso la figura della Madonna, un interessante e inedito ritratto della Chiesa delle origini.

Tyler Gage is a grown up boy spending his life on the road, after a trouble with justice he finds himself serving a social sentence at the Maryland School of the Arts. Trama :

Pete Sandich è un pilota dell'aviazione antincendi, che vive con Dorinda, la donna che ama profondamente.

Un giorno, durante una missione con il suo migliore amico Al Yackey, Pete cerca di aiutarlo a spegnere il fuoco che ha incendiato il motore; gettando il liquido spegne il fuoco e salva l'amico, ma accidentalmente vola attraverso una foresta in fiamme bruciando il serbatoio col carburante che, diffondendosi, provoca l'esplosione dell'aereo e perciò la sua morte.

Pete, divenuto un angelo, incontra Hap, un angelo che gli taglia i capelli e lo invita a far da angelo custode all'amata Dorinda e a Ted Baker, un giovane aviatore destinato a prendere il suo posto.

Il problema è che Ted è intenzionato anche a prendere il suo posto nel cuore di Dorinda, anche se questa ancora pensa a Pete e cerca di sabotare il loro rapporto. Hap gli confessa che la sua vita è finita.

Ted viene mandato ad una missione pericolosa per salvare una foresta in fiamme, ma Dorinda, incapace di...

Plot :

Pete Sandich (Dreyfuss) is an aerial firefighter, flying a war-surplus A-26 bomber dropping fire retardant slurry to put out forest wildfires. His excessive risk taking in the air deeply troubles his girlfriend, Dorinda Durston (Hunter), a pilot who doubles as a dispatcher, and is also of concern to his best friend, Al Yackey (Goodman), a fellow fighter. On one flight, Pete makes one extra drop, runs out of fuel, and barely manages to glide onto the runway.

Pete shrugs off his brush with death and surprises Dorinda with a stunning white dress for her birthday, although it turns out to be the wrong day. Irate at first, she eventually puts on the dress anyway, and the couple dance to their song, "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes".

Al sits Pete down for a beer and likens their situation to wartime England (Quonset huts, warm beer, and hotshot pilots flying bombers) in order to emphasize the key difference: "Pete, there ain't no war here. And this is why you're not exactly a hero for taking these chances you take." Al suggests Pete take a safer job that has just opened up, training firefighting pilots in...

A palazzo Esperanza, la giovane Estelle scopre che suo nonno è ancora sulle tracce di una profezia di cui le raccontava quando era piccola. Tale profezia, opera del papa Giovanni XXII, svelerebbe il futuro del mondo fino all'anno 4400. Estelle, ormai adulta, non crede più all'esistenza della profezia, la cui scoperta dovrebbe avvenire, secondo la leggenda, ad opera di un membro della famiglia Esperanza nell'arco di un ciclo lunare, caratterizzato dalla manifestazione di alcuni segni. Ma un primo segno sembra manifestarsi quando, durante degli scavi archeologici ad Avignone, viene ritrovato un rosone luminoso nascosto da un muro. Estelle viene allontanata dal sito archeologico ma vi fa ritorno di notte, assieme a suo nonno e a David, un dipendente, che, disponendo dell'accesso, li aiuta a entrare. Estelle e il nonno trovano il tesoro nascosto di papa Giovanni XXII con gli indizi per scoprire la profezia, ma il vecchio archeologo ha un malore per l'emozione. Viene portato in ospedale e, dopo essersi svegliato da un sonno profondo, subisce l'aggressione di un uomo proprio nel momento in cui Estelle, rimasta a vegliarlo durante la notte, si era allontanata. La ragazza, sentendo le urla, corre dal nonno, che fa appena in tempo a metterla in guardia da un'associazione segreta chiamata Fratelli di Giuda, e a confessarle che è lei la prescelta per scoprire la profezia e combattere la setta segreta. Altra vittima dei Fratelli di Giuda è un'amica di Estelle, uccisa perché scambiata per lei.

L'italiana in Algeri (The Italian Girl in Algiers) is an operatic dramma giocoso in two acts by Gioachino Rossini to an Italian libretto by Angelo Anelli, based on his earlier text set by Luigi Mosca. The music is characteristic of Rossini's style, remarkable for its fusion of sustained, manic energy with elegant, pristine melodies.

Rossini wrote L'italiana in Algeri when he was 21. The opera was composed in either 18 or 27 days, depending on which source one believes (Rossini, not surprisingly, pegged it at 1. Rossini entrusted the composition of the recitatives as well as the aria "Le femmine d'Italia" to an unknown collaborator. The opera is notable for Rossini's mixing of opera seria style in opera buffa. The overture is widely recorded and performed today, known for its distinct opening of slow, quiet pizzicato basses, leading to a sudden loud burst of sound from the full orchestra. This "surprise" reflects Rossini's early admiration for Joseph Haydn, whose Symphony No. 94 in G major, "The Surprise Symphony", is so named for the same shocking, semi-comic affect.

Trama

Alice ha quarant'anni, due figli, Kate e Dennis, un marito gentile, Doug, e una bella casa a New York. Ciononostante è insoddisfatta della vita che conduce, al punto da cercare amore in un rapporto extraconiugale, con Joe, divorziato da Vicki. Il dott. Yang, medico e agopuntore cinese presso cui è in cura, le fornisce un'erba che rende invisibili: così Alice scopre i tradimenti del marito e la falsità delle amiche. Un'altra erba procura amore eterno, ma Alice decide di non utilizzarla e di compiere un viaggio in India, dove conoscerà le suore di Madre Teresa di Calcutta, per poi ritornare negli Stati Uniti, scegliendo di vivere con i figli in un modesto appartamento.
