Nabucco (short for Nabucodonosor, English Nebuchadnezzar) is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Temistocle Solera, based on the Biblical story and the 1836 play by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Francis Cornue. It is Verdi’s third opera and the one which is considered to have permanently established his reputation as a composer.

Nabucco follows the plight of the Jews as they are assaulted, conquered, and subsequently exiled from their homeland by the Babylonian King Nabucco (in English, Nebuchadnezzar). The historical events are used as background for a romantic and political plot.

Its first performance took place on 9 March 1842 at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan under the original name of Nabucodonosor. The definitive name of Nabucco for the opera (and its protagonist) was first used at a performance at the San Giacomo Theatre of Corfu in September, 1844. Nonetheless, a more plausible alternative for the establishment of this abbreviated form claims that it was the result of a revival of the opera in Teatro Giglio of Lucca.

Nabucco was premièred at Milan’s La Scala on March 9th 1842. It met with enormous success, crowned by as many as 75 performances at La Scala before the end of that year. With Nabucco Verdi finally found his own stance, attaining linguistic and expressive means that, in the space of a decade, would make him the undisputed master of Italian opera theatres. The present, interesting production, staged at the Carlo Felice theatre in Genoa, features young but already internationally renowned interpreters: Alberto Gazale, as a solid and convincing Nabucco; Susan Neves as an Abigaille by the beautiful and powerful vocal means; Orlin Anastassov as a greatly authoritative Zaccaria, which lets foresee for him a radiant career. Anna Maria Quaini OMRI (born 25 March 1940), known as Mina Mazzini or simply Mina, is an Italian singer. She was a staple of television variety shows[5] and a dominant figure in Italian pop music from the 1960s to the mid-1970s, known for her three-octave vocal range,[7] the agility of her soprano voice, and her image as an emancipated woman.

In performance, Mina combined several modern styles with traditional Italian melodies and swing music, which made her the most versatile pop singer in Italian music. Mina dominated the country's charts for fifteen years and reached an unsurpassed level of popularity.[6] She has scored 79 albums and 71 singles on the Italian charts.

Mina's TV appearances in 1959 were the first for a female rock and roll singer in Italy. Her loud syncopated singing earned her the nickname Queen of Screamers. The public also labeled her the Tiger of Cremona for her wild gestures and body shakes. When she turned to light pop tunes, Mina's chart-toppers in West Germany in 1962 and Japan in 1964 earned her the title of the best international artist in these countries. Mina's more refined sensual manner was introduced in 1960 with Gino Paoli's ballad "This World We Love In", which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961.

Mina was banned from TV and radio in 1963 because her pregnancy and relationship with a married actor did not accord with the dominant Catholic and bourgeois morals. After the ban, the public broadcasting service RAI tried to continue to prohibit her songs, which were forthright in dealing with subjects such as religion, smoking and sex.[15] Mina's cool act combined sex appeal with public smoking, dyed blonde hair, and shaved eyebrows to create a "bad girl" image.[11]

Mina's voice has distinctive timbre and great power. Her main themes are anguished love stories performed in high dramatic tones. The singer combined classic Italian pop with elements of blues, R&B and soul music during the late 1960s, especially when she worked in collaboration with the singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. Top Italian songwriters created material with large vocal ranges and unusual chord progressions to showcase her singing skills, particularly "Brava" by Bruno Canfora (1965) and the pseudo-serial "Se telefonando" by Ennio Morricone (1966). The latter song was covered by several performers abroad. Shirley Bassey carried Mina's ballad "Grande grande grande" to charts in the U.S., U.K., and other English-speaking countries in 1973. Mina's easy listening duet "Parole parole" was turned into a worldwide hit by Dalida and Alain Delon in 1974. Mina gave up public appearances in 1978 but has continued to release popular albums on a yearly basis to the present day.

Per combattere anche sintomi di depressione, è solito rifugiarsi nell'universo immaginario della sua serie di libri preferita, Fillory and Further, una saga la cui storia di svolge in un fantastico universo parallelo a quello reale, Fillory, con similitudini con il mondo di Narnia. La sua vita viene stravolta quando viene invitato ai test di ammissione di una prestigiosa quanto segreta scuola di magia, l'unica in Nord America, il Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. Ai test, insieme a Quentin, viene invitata anche la sua migliore amica Julia, che tuttavia non riesce a superarli. Quentin si ritrova quindi a frequentare la scuola, dove si avvicina in particolare a Alice Quinn, una ragazza proveniente da una famiglia di rinomati maghi che si è iscritta per scoprire quanto avvenuto al fratello, presumibilmente morto mentre frequentava la stessa struttura. Clary è una promettente studentessa alla Brooklyn Academy of Art il cui brillante futuro deraglia quando sua madre viene rapita e si scopre che tutta la sua vita è stata una bugia. Clary scopre un mondo nascosto fatto di vampiri, licantropi ed altri impensabili pericoli e creature magiche che presto impara ad amare. È una ragazza molto testarda e determinata he non ha paura di trovarsi di fronte al pericolo. Si innamora subito di Jace, nonostante questo amore affronti molti alti e bassi, a causa dei loro caratteri molto diversi e delle situazioni a cui vengono sottoposti nel corso della storia. Clary invidia, soprattutto all'inizio, Isabelle, a causa della sua infinita bellezza e fisico molto femminile: tutto il contrario di ciò che Clary pensa di essere. Scoprirà però che in fondo non sono molto diverse e stringerà con lei una forte amicizia. Non ha un ottimo rapporto con Alec, all'inizio, poiché quest'ultimo crede di essere innamorato di Jace, di conseguenza finisce col vedere Clary come una minaccia.
Jonathan "Jace" Wayland interpretato da Dominic Sherwood doppiato da Alessandro Ward
Jace è un ragazzo bellissimo e dalla battuta sempre pronta. La sua missione è vendicarsi del responsabile della morte di suo padre. È un ragazzo ribelle, che spesso, anzi, quasi sempre, risponde cinicamente a delle frasi serie, non ama essere il secondo, anzi è fermamente convinto di essere il migliore in tutto, soprattutto in combattimento. Effettivamente, possiede molta forza e resistenza, qualità di massima importanza per uno Shadowhunter. È cresciuto con i Lightwood dopo aver assistito da piccolo alla morte del padre, è sempre stato incline a non rispettare le regole. Riesce a cambiare la sua personalità solo grazie ad Alec, suo Parabatai, migliore amico e fratello in battaglia. Alec è l'unico con cui Jace assume anche atteggiamenti più dolci e accondiscendenti; inizialmente solo con lui e Isabelle, la sorella, riesce ad essere se stesso e parlare dei suoi problemi e delle sue preoccupazioni, ma presto inizia ad aprirsi anche con Clary. Fin dal primo incontro con la ragazza, Jace sente il dovere di proteggerla da tutto e da tutti, arrivando anche a mettere lei davanti ai sui fratelli, Alec e Isabelle. S'innamora di lei quasi subito, ma essendo stato cresciuto da un uomo i cui insegnamenti dicevano che l'amore distrugge, lo nasconderà a se stesso il più possibile. Per Jace il legame di Parabatai è qualcosa di unico, infatti intuisce sempre le emozioni di Alec, tutto ciò che lo riguarda, e viceversa: darebbe la vita per lui.
Simon Lewis, interpretato da Alberto Rosende doppiato da Emanuele Ruzza
Il migliore amico di Clary, della quale è segretamente innamorato, studia contabilità e fa parte di una band con l'amica Maureen. Simon è un classico ragazzo Nerd, amante di videogiochi e musica. Clary è da sempre stata la sua migliore amica, e la seguirebbe ovunque, sempre. Infatti, scopre insieme a lei il Mondo Invisibil. Alec è molto schietto nel pensare che sia sbagliato farlo venire a conoscenza del loro mondo, e anche se all'inizio i due saranno molto lontani dall'essere amici, infine lo diventeranno. Simon inoltre rimane affascinato dall'incantevole bellezza di Isabelle, arrivando a non sapere più chi ama veramente fra lei e Clary. Viene trasformato in un vampiro da Raphael, sotto richiesta di Clary dopo che Camille lo aveva ucciso; dopo aver accettato la sua nuova natura entra a far parte del clan dei vampiri.
Isabelle "Izzy" Sophia Lightwood, interpretata da Emeraude Toubia doppiata da Giulia Franceschetti
Dai lunghi capelli neri e occhi come l'onice, Izzy ha un carattere affilato, lucente e spesso sguscia fuori dall'Istituto di notte per segreti appuntamenti amorosi con Nascosti. Riassume perfettamente se stessa nella frase "Io faccio il mio dovere e tutto ciò che accadrà sarà una mia responsabilità". Bella, intelligente e affidabile, l'esatto campione di ragazza perfetta, nonché abile in combattimento. Isabelle ricorda un serpente dal suo modo di combattere, poiché usa una speciale frusta-bracciale in elettro da cui nessuno può sfuggire. Clary invidia molto il suo aspetto, e Isabelle nota questa cosa, nonostante non faccia niente per impedirlo. Le due sono le uniche ragazze nel gruppo, per cui diventeranno molto amiche grazie alla varietà di situazioni in cui si troveranno. Inizialmente ha una relazione con Meliorn del mondo fatato, poi conoscendo Simon proverà qualcosa per lui. Nel corso della serie Izzy sarà costretta a fare un cambiamento drastico: per impedire il collasso e la caduta in rovina della famiglia, cambierà completamente atteggiamento, passando da comportamenti da diva e abiti succinti, ad un modo di fare più serio, adulti e responsabile. Malgrado il suo carattere ribelle ed eccentrico, ama molto la sua famiglia, in particolare i suoi due fratelli, per i quali farebbe di tutto.
Alexander "Alec" Gideon Lightwood, interpretato da Matthew Daddario doppiato da Flavio Aquilone
Fratello di Izzy e Max, Alec ha alle spalle anni di frustrazione e risentimento, per esser dovuto crescere prima del tempo, prendendosi a carico l'Istituto e la famiglia. Scontroso e severo all'apparenza, nasconde un animo tormentato e un cuore nobile. Nella famiglia ricopre molti ruoli diversi e durante la lotta pensa più all'incolumità di Jace e Izzy che alla sua. Si sente poco importante per coloro che ama e mette i bisogni e i desideri di chi lo circonda prima dei suoi. Alec è omosessuale. Inizialmente pensa di essere innamorato di Jace a causa del loro profondo legame fraterno di Parabatai. Infatti, quando arriva Clary, ne è molto geloso, poiché Jace ne è attratto e viceversa. Questo presunto sentimento di Amore/Invidia, comincia a diradarsi quando incontra e conosce Magnus Bane, uno stregone fuori dal comune. Magnus lo aiuterà ad accettarsi per quello che è e per ciò che può dare agli altri. Alec è un ragazzo molto rigoroso nel rispetto delle regole e delle leggi, ma si trova di fronte ad un abisso ogni volta in cui pensa alla sua omosessualità, poiché, per il Clave, è qualcosa di assolutamente oltraggioso e proibito. Nel corso della storia si troverà davanti ad una scelta: cos'è più importante? Jace, il suo Parabatai? O la vita di sua sorella? Questa scelta lo dilanierà fino a lasciarlo, perla prima volta, con il serio dubbio che, forse, le leggi del Clave non sono sempre giuste.
Luke Garroway (Lucian Graymark), interpretato da Isaiah Mustafa doppiato da Fabrizio Vidale
Poliziotto nel dipartimento di New York, è segretamente innamorato di Jocelyn. È un ex Shadowhunter che è stato tradito dal suo, ormai ex, Parabatai Valentine Morgenstern, che tentò di ucciderlo, lasciandolo solo in una tana di lupi mannari. Luke però sopravvisse e divenne un licantropo. Scappa con Jocelyn e Clary (appena nata) a New York, dove diventa il capo del branco di lupi mannari della città. Quando non sta aiutando Jocelyn o non "gioca" al papà con Clary, usa il suo lavoro e il suo status di capo branco per mantenere un occhio vigile e costante sul mondo dei nascosti. È un ex membro del circolo di Valentine. A differenza dei libri, è di colore e non possiede una libreria.
Magnus Bane, interpretato da Harry Shum Jr. doppiato da Fabrizio Dolce
Il Sommo Stregone di Brooklyn, in superficie egoista e introverso, ma sotto sotto saggio, prudente e stanco del mondo che ormai conosce alla perfezione, per questo anche cinico. La sua presenza è imponente, ha una profonda connessione con il mondo dei Nascosti e sembra avere abbastanza autorità all'interno di essa. Magnus ha uno stile del tutto particolare e inimitabile, è un ottimo organizzatore di party, poiché molto popolare tra i Nascosti. Non adora collaborare con gli Shadowhunters e infatti si stupisce di sé stesso quando si innamora di Alec. Nonostante la sua avversione per gli Shadowhunters, si dimostrerà disposto a offrire loro qualsiasi tipo di aiuto e per questo stringerà amicizia con Clary, Jace, Izzy e Alec. In quanto Stregone è per metà demone e per metà umano, ed è immortale, infatti ha più o meno quattrocento anni. Inoltre una caratteristica che lo distingue sono i suoi occhi da gatto, chiaramente visibili quando ricorre all'uso della magia (caratteristica che verrà introdotta nelle prime quattro puntate della prima stagione e poi sarà abbandonata). E' bisessuale.[/spoiler]

[size=14pt]Clary Fray è una ragazza perfettamente normale: studentessa alla Brooklyn Academy of Art, vive con la madre Jocelyn nel loro umile appartamento di New York e passa le sue giornate tra l'arte e il migliore amico Simon Lewis. Il giorno del suo diciottesimo compleanno, però, Clary passa la serata al Pandemonium Club, dove assiste a un omicidio che nessun altro - eccetto lei - riesce a vedere. Quando torna a casa, viene attaccata da un demone, ma il ragazzo che aveva visto poco prima al Club, Jace Wayland, la salva. Jace è uno Shadowhunter, metà umano e metà angelo che protegge i Mondani (persone appartenenti al mondo degli umani) dai demoni, e, quando si scopre che anche Clary è una di loro, Jace, insieme ai compagni cacciatori Isabelle e Alec, la aiuta a scoprire se stessa. Clary deve comprendere il prima possibile il potenziale che c'è in lei per poter sconfiggere Valentine Morgenstern, l'uomo più ricercato nel mondo degli Shadowhunter e dei Nascosti, che fino a poco tempo prima si credeva morto ma che ora vuole ottenere la Coppa Mortale, uno strumento che gli permetterà di creare nuovi Shadowhunters che lo aiuteranno a sterminare i Nascosti.[/size]
