In America ormai Eric Sloane non ha più rivali in grado di sconfiggerlo nella Kick boxing, una violenta forma di pugilato tailandese, e quindi col fratello-manager Kurt decide di recarsi a Bangkock per trovare un avversario degno di lui. Lo trova in Tong Po, un picchiatore un pò esaltato, protetto da uno spregiudicato boss della zona, Freddy Li. Purtroppo per Eric. il campione locale è troppo forte per lui e, nonostante Kurt voglia ritirarsi, il tailandese infierisce su di lui con un micidiale colpo alla schiena che lo renderà paralizzato per sempre. Kurt è furioso, vuole punire quel mostro ma la sua preparazione atletica è assolutamente inadeguata per sconfiggere Tong Po. Allora Taylor, un americano che ha fatto fortuna col traffico di armi, lo conduce da Xian, maestro tra i migliori nella Kick boxing. L'uomo, dapprima incerto, accetta poi di prepararlo al grande incontro. L'addestramento e la disciplina sono duri ma Kurt, spinto da Xian e dal desiderio di vendetta, stringe i denti e arriva ad un punto di preparazione più che accettabile. Conosce poi la nipote di Xian, My Lee, molto graziosa, con la quale simpatizza subito. Xian fa in modo di organizzare col boss Freddy Li un incontro tra Kurt e un pugile locale. L'americano stravince e si guadagna la stima del pubblico del posto. Freddy Li capisce che Kurt fa sul serio e potrebbe mettere in difficoltà Tong Po. Allora fa aggredire My Lee e la fa portare al campione tailandese, che la violenta. Fa poi rapire Eric e lo fa rinchiudere in un posto sicuro. Alla vigilia dell'incontro con Tong Po Kurt, scosso da questi eventi, è deconcentrato e nervoso. L'incontro si svolge nell'antico modo tailandese con le mani fasciate da corde sulle quali sono conficcati vetri aguzzi. Tong Po all'inizio sembra avere la meglio su Kurt, che non reagisce come dovrebbe e come gli ha insegnato Xian. My Lee, che è tra il pubblico, è disperata anche perchè Xian è sparito: l'uomo è andato a liberare Eric. Ci riuscirà grazie anche all'aiuto di Taylor, reduce del Vietnam ed esperto di armi, ed insieme uccidono tutti gli scagnozzi di Freddy Li. Eric, liberato, può assistere all'incontro di Kurt e di Tong Po: la sua presenza dà nuovo vigore al fratello che, come una furia, si abbatte sul tailandese riducendolo ad un fantoccio incapace di difendersi.

In America now, Eric Sloane has no more rivals to defeat him in Kick boxing, a violent form of Thai boxing, and then with brother-manager Kurt decides to go to Bangkock to find a worthy opponent of him. He finds him in Tong Po, a bit exalted, protected by a bribed boss in the area, Freddy Li. Unfortunately for Eric. The local champion is too strong for him and despite Kurt wants to retire, the Thai inflicts on him with a deadly backhand blow that will make him paralyzed forever. Kurt is furious, he wants to punish that monster, but his athletic training is totally inadequate to defeat Tong Po. Then Taylor, an American who has been fortunate in arms trafficking, leads him to Xian, a master of the best in Kick Boxing. The man, at first uncertain, agrees to prepare him for the great encounter. Training and discipline are tough but Kurt, driven by Xian and the desire for revenge, shrugs and gets to a more than acceptable preparation point. He then knows Xian's grandson, My Lee, very pretty, with whom he sympathizes immediately. Xian makes arrangements with Freddy Li for a meeting between Kurt and a local boxer. The American is overwhelmed and earns the spot audience rating. Freddy understands that Kurt is serious and could put Tong Po in trouble. Then he attacks My Lee and brings her to the Thai champion, who violent her. She then kidnaps Eric and locks him in a safe place. On the eve of the meeting with Tong Po Kurt, shaken by these events, he is deconcentrated and nervous. The encounter takes place in the ancient Thai way with hands clasped by strings on which heavy glasses are stuck. Tong Po at first seems to have the best on Kurt, who does not react as he should and how Xian taught him. My Lee, who is in the audience, is also desperate because Xian is gone: the man went to liberate Eric. You will also be able to help with the help of Taylor, Vietnam's Reduced and Weapon Experts, and together kill all Freddy Li's henchmen. Eric, released, can attend the meeting of Kurt and Tong Po: his presence gives new strength to his brother who, like a fury, knocks on Thai by reducing it to a puppet unable to defend himself.

Arena's Smoke and Mirrors is a terrific presentation from the packaging to the performance, the fun doubled and tripled with all the extra little goodies tucked inside this wonderful package. You'll need to spend a lot of time with this one, from the September 22, 2005 concert at Poland's Wyspiaski Theatre to fan footage taped October 16, 2005 in Holland. There's a biography of the band itself you can read, as well as separate bios for the players, so those new to Arena can catch up on drummer Mick Pointer, bassist Ian Salmon and their comrades. But it's the concert itself that is the centerpiece and the camera work and edits are absolutely flawless on most of the songs. The depth of the production is such that it is as close to 3-D as you can get on a flat screen with the camera movement and additional lenses following the musicians on the instrumental passages, weaving the imagery in a solid collaboration of sound and film. That said, there are sometimes too many quick cuts to vocalist Rob Sowden on "A Crack in the Ice" when a lingering shot would be easier on the nervous system. A minor distraction on an otherwise impressive filming. The band plays as smooth and sleek as a Mercedes on the 14-minute epic "Solomon," the use of the crane giving some exquisite video sweeps. The acoustic "Friday's Dream" is lovely and a nice contrast to the anthem feel of "Crying for Help VII." A four-page booklet is included along with Clive Nolan and Mick Pointer interview footage and more bells and whistles that are imbedded in a classy sandstone-style graphic. Very excellent for fans of the group, and a pleasant surprise for those who have never encountered Arena.

Guido Tersilli, giovane medico appena laureato, resosi conto che la libera professione non concede, almeno agli inizi, la tranquillità economica cui aspira, decide di raggiungere il suo scopo arraffando clienti tra l'enorme pletora di mutuati. Gli inizi, però, sono piuttosto scoraggianti. Finalmente la grande occasione: il dottor Bui, che "possiede" qualcosa come duemilatrecento mutuati, è in fin di vita. Scavalcando i colleghi, ansiosi come lui, di gettarsi su quel ben di Dio, il neo-dottore riesce, corteggiando la moglie del morente e, con la vaga promessa di sposarla, a diventare, per così dire l'unico "erede" del "patrimonio".

Guido Tersilli, a newly graduated doctor, realized that the free profession at least in the beginning, the economic quietness he aspires, decides to reach his goal by torturing customers among the huge plethora of borrowers. The beginnings, however, are rather daunting. Finally, the great opportunity: Dr Bui, who "owns" something like two thousand times borrowed, is in the end of life. By surmounting his colleagues, as anxious as he, to throw on that goodness of God, the neo-doctor succeeds, courting the wife of the dying and, with the vague promise of marrying her, to become, so to speak, the only "heir" of the " heritage ".

Verso la fine degli anni cinquanta la Galleria Velvet, una lussuosa casa di moda di Madrid, fa da sfondo alla nascente storia d'amore tra Anna, una sarta di umili origini che aspira a diventare stilista, e il ricco Alberto, figlio del proprietario ed erede designato. Il loro amore sarà ostacolato dalle famiglie e dai conflitti di potere per la gestione della Velvet. Anna è talmente affezionata alla galleria che è disposta a sacrificare il suo amore con Alberto; per questo gli chiede di sposare Cristina, figlia di un ricco imprenditore spagnolo che farà tornare alto il livello sociale ed economico della galleria. Anna e Alberto però non riescono a frenare il loro amore e a dirsi addio.

Richard Poole è un ispettore del Metropolitan Police Service di Londra, serio, professionale e ligio alle regole. Con suo grande disappunto, scopre un giorno di essere stato trasferito in servizio a Saint Marie, uno sperduto atollo caraibico – ex colonia francese, ora dipendenza britannica d'oltremare. Richard è il classico uomo d'oltre Manica che si è sempre trovato a suo agio nel freddo e nel grigiore della capitale inglese, e ora non sopporta il clima e la natura selvaggia dell'isola; deluso e frustrato, il detective londinese è costretto suo malgrado ad adattarsi a questa nuova situazione, che lo vede alle prese con un'isola a lui ostile, con una perenne nostalgia di casa, e con una nuova squadra che adotta metodi d'indagine molto lontani dal rigore e dalla disciplina britannica. Ad affiancarlo nella gestione della piccola stazione di polizia di Honoré ci sono Camille Bordey, sergente d'origine francese con cui Poole trova sempre modo di battibeccare su tutto, l'agente Dwayne Myers, decano della polizia dell'isola, e la giovane recluta Fidel Best, a tratti ancora inesperto.

Dopo l'improvvisa morte di Poole, il suo incarico sull'isola viene assegnato a un nuovo ispettore, Humphrey Goodman, il quale mostra caratteristiche piuttosto diverse da quelle del suo predecessore; se da una parte è vittima di una serie di difetti e manie, come la goffaggine e la balbuzie, che lo ostacolano non poco nello svolgimento della sua professione, dall'altra è ben felice di approdare in servizio a Saint Marie, abbracciando immediatamente il clima e le tradizioni caraibiche dell'isola. L'incontro sull'isola con Martha, sua ex fidanzata con la quale intraprende una nuova relazione, porta quindi Goodman a decidere di abbandonare a sua volta l'incarico affidandolo al suo collega Jack Mooney, arrivato a Saint Marie insieme alla figlia Siobhan.

In un ospedale psichiatrico tutto ordine e pulizia arriva un giorno il giovane Randle P. McMurphy, che, condannato per reati di violenza, spera, spacciandosi per matto, di sottrarsi al carcere: ai medici il compito di scoprire se sia o meno un simulatore. La sua comparsa, intanto, porta lo scompiglio in quel chiuso ambiente di repressione mascherata, di intransigente disciplina imposta e mantenuta da una ferrea capo-infermiera, la signorina Ratched. L'allegro McMurphy volge in burla le sedute psicanalitiche di gruppo, si improvvisa radiocronista di immaginarie partite di baseball, organizza una "scappatella" in barca coi suoi compagni, impianta una squadra di basket. Più i ricoverati, però, gli stringono fiduciosi intorno, contagiati dal suo spirito di disubbidienza, più la Ratched stringe la vite del sistema repressivo. Forte dell'amicizia di un gigantesco indiano, che si era finto sordomuto, McMurphy decide di fuggire con lui. Prima, però, regala agli amici una festicciola notturna, con due ragazze fatte entrare clandestinamente. La Ratched scopre uno dei ricoverati, il mite Jimmy, tra le braccia di una di loro: lo terrorizza, facendo leva sul suo complesso di colpa, e il giovane si uccide. McMurphy, infuriato, salta al collo della capo-infermiera e quasi la strozza. Condotto in sala operatoria e sottoposto a lobotomia, McMurphy diventa una larva d'uomo che l'indiano, prima di evadere, soffoca pietosamente con un cuscino.

Alien Covenant, diretto da Ridley Scott, è il secondo episodio della trilogia prequel iniziata con Prometheus, dedicata al celebre franchise sci-fi nato nel 1979. Ambientato dieci anni dopo gli eventi narrati in Prometheus, il film racconta della missione di colonizzazione su larga scala del pianeta Origae-6, sul fianco estremo della galassia, da parte dell'astronave Covenant con a bordo 2000 persone addormentate artificialmente e sulle quali veglia l'androide Walter (Michael Fassbender). L'iper-sonno dell'equipaggio e la tranquillità del viaggio vengono interrotti dalla violenta eplosione di una stella che distrugge le vele di raccolta di energia della Covenant, provocando decine e decine di morti. L'inevitabile deragliamento della missione fa approdare i membri superstiti dell'equipaggio su quello che sembra essere un paradiso inesplorato, un Eden indisturbato con montagne coperte di nuvole e immensi alberi altissimi, molto più vicino di Origae-6 e potenzialmente altrettanto valido per ospitarli. Guidati dall'esperta di terraformazione Daniels (Katherine Waterston) e assistiti dall'androide Walter, gli uomini scesi a terra si imbattono nella carcassa di una nave aliena schiantata, ignari del pericolo che vi si nasconde all'interno. Il gruppo, seguito a distanza ravvicinata dal drone David, unico superstite della spedizione della Prometheus, identico nell'aspetto al sintetico Walter, dovrà lottare fino allo stremo delle forze per resistere agli attacchi delle mostruose creature che ha inavvertitamente risvegliato.
Con questo episodio, il sesto della serie, il Ridley Scott si avvicina sempre di più verso la rivelazione sulle misteriose origini della madre di tutti gli alieni, il letale xenomorfo del primo Alien.

When the hurricane strikes, all the power goes out and everyone in the hospital leaves. But the baby's father stays because the baby can't be moved so he has to take care of his baby by making sure the ventilator stays on.
