This 1987 documentary is distinguished by both its smart narrative premise and wonderful performance footage of Elvis Presley at the dawn of his remarkable career. With the King's melodramatic life already a familiar subject for film and print biographies, producer-directors Alan and Susan Raymond instead shaped this hour-long profile around the year that saw the charismatic Memphis singer's eruption as a pop sensation. By taking that selective path, and focusing tightly on Presley's crucial transition to a major record deal, national media exposure and the first decisive steps in his subsequent movie career, Elvis '56 achieves a unique cohesion while legitimately celebrating a remarkable period of growth.

With the Band's Levon Helm narrating in his salty Arkansas drawl, the story effectively conveys Elvis' Southern perspective, while evocative use of Alfred Wertheimer's celebrated black-and-white still portraits sustains a visual style carrying over to the programme's real high points: early stage and television appearances by Presley and his original trio, later augmented into a quartet. Among the highlights are historic slots on Milton Berle's and Steve Allen's variety shows: we see the joyous physicality that made the Berle performance a topic of outrage (and, of course, a swoon-worthy moment for female fans), as well as Allen's glib solution to censors' worries, forcing a static, tail-coated Presley to sing "Hound Dog" to a basset hound. --Sam Sutherland

Trama

La banda dei ricercatori di Smetto quando voglio è tornata. Anzi, non è mai andata via. Se per sopravvivere Pietro Zinni e i suoi colleghi avevano lavorato alla creazione di una straordinaria droga legale diventando poi dei criminali, adesso in Smetto quando voglio 2 Masterclass è proprio la legge ad aver bisogno di loro. Sarà infatti l'ispettore Paola Coletti a chiedere al detenuto Zinni di rimettere su la banda, creando una task force al suo servizio che entri in azione e fermi il dilagare delle smart drugs. Agire nell'ombra per ottenere la fedina penale pulita: questo è il patto. Il neurobiologo, il chimico, l'economista, l'archeologo, l’antropologo e i latinisti si ritroveranno loro malgrado dall’altra parte della barricata, ma per portare a termine questa nuova missione dovranno rinforzarsi, riportando in Italia nuove reclute tra i tanti "cervelli in fuga" scappati all'estero. La banda criminale più colta di sempre si troverà ad affrontare molteplici imprevisti e nemici sempre più cattivi tra incidenti, inseguimenti, esplosioni, assalti e rocambolesche situazioni come al solito "stupefacenti".

Le sale del Natural History Museum prendono vita e portano in un viaggio in tre dimensioni tra grandi aquile, yeti, serpenti e dinosauri, resi ancora più reali grazie a un 3D di eccezione, prodotto dallo stesso team CGI di Gravity. La realizzazione del documentario, prodotto da BAFTA e girato interamente in 3D con effetti speciali spettacolari creati da un team composto da alcuni dei creatori di Harry Potter e de Il Signore degli Anelli, ha richiesto oltre 15 giorni di riprese con l'utilizzo di sofisticate tecniche 3D.
Il 3D avvicina in modo più giocoso un argomento che può essere molto scientifico facendo divertire con i suoi effetti un pubblico di tutte le età.
Attraverso il documentario Sir David Attenborough ha realizzato un sogno che lo accompagna fin da quando visitava questo museo da bambino: "Vengo al Museo di Storia Naturale da quando ero un ragazzo, è uno dei luoghi ideali per conoscere la storia naturale. In questo documentario abbiamo la tecnologia per riportare in vita alcune delle creature più straordinarie del pianeta: alcune sono relativamente recenti, come il dodo, altre meno, come i dinosauri, e altre ancora le conosciamo solo grazie ai ritrovamenti dei fossili".

La guerra di secessione è finita da qualche anno. Una diligenza viaggia nell'innevato inverno del Wyoming. A bordo c'è il cacciatore di taglie John "The Hangman" (Il Boia) Ruth e la sua prigioniera Daisy Domergue, diretti verso la città di Red Rock dove la donna verrà consegnata alla giustizia. Lungo la strada, si aggiungono il Maggiore Marquis Warren, un ex soldato nero nordista diventato anche lui un famoso cacciatore di taglie, e Chris Mannix, che si presenta come nuovo sceriffo di Red Rock. Infuria la tempesta di neve e la compagnia trova rifugio presso l'emporio di Minnie, dove vengono accolti non dalla proprietaria, ma da quattro sconosciuti: il messicano Bob, il boia di Red Rock Oswaldo Mobray, il mandriano Joe Gage e il generale della Confederazione Sanford Smithers. La bufera blocca gli otto personaggi che ben presto capiscono che raggiungere la loro destinazione non sarà affatto semplice.

"BE" (Original Stage Production) is Swedish progressive metal band Pain of Salvation's first live DVD (and second live CD), documenting one of the performances of their 2004 album BE in its entirety in Eskilstuna, Sweden on September 12, 2003. In contrast to the studio album, The Orchestra of Eternity (a nine-piece orchestra accompanying the band) are given credit on the front cover of the album (though they weren't shown on the initial promo release
The live performance of their monumental concept album "Be" is closer to that of a full scale musical production than a rock concert. The brainchild of front man Daniel Gildenlöw, this complex conceptual inspiration came to life for one special night only complete with band, actors and the stunning nine piece 'Orchestra of Eternity' in front of a packed home town audience.

The DVD contains the complete performance of "Be" with optional audio choices of stereo or 5.1 sound. The disc also has a mountain of informative and entertaining bonus features as well as an audio commentary by Daniel Gildenlöw.

DVD and live CD set comes in a slip case with a jam packed 48 page colour booklet.

I bastardi di Pizzofalcone è una serie televisiva italiana, diretta da Carlo Carlei, trasmessa dal 9 gennaio 2017 su Rai 1.

La serie è tratta dall'omonimo romanzo I bastardi di Pizzofalcone di Maurizio De Giovanni.

La serie Tv è incentrata sulla storia di poliziotti mandati tutti nella caserma di Pizzofalcone perché alcuni hanno avuto dei problemi sul lavoro (tre di questi) altri due perché stanno lì da sempre e un altro perché è raccomandato. All'inizio devono solo fare normale amministrazione poi diventano grazie alla risoluzione, da parte di essi, di un omicidio, una caserma a tutti gli effetti.

Trama
